  1. That's a great picture! I could have used it for inspiration! Very nice. That tank has seen some miles...love it!
  2. I always liked those. I'll be watching.
  3. I was re-arranging a showcase to make more room for new arrivals. I pulled this old H series conversion from the back. I haven't taken fresh pictures of it for many years. It was my first truck conversion attempt. Many details are missing and wrong, but it looks good on the shelf. All I can remember about the conversion is that I used parts of a conventional truck sleeper to help make the skirting. This was the first big rig build I built that I still have. Paint is Colorplace (I told you it's old) Kelly Green. Most of the rest of the details I've forgotten over the years. Well, here it is:
  4. Thanks, everyone. I appreciate your kind comments!
  5. For an "easy" conversion, this ended up having more mistakes than I would like. (detailed in WIP section). I got about 90% of what I was shooting for, so here she is:
  6. Because of the way the kit cab tilts, I couldn't make the cab tilt without attaching small parts of the grille surround to the frame rails. I made 3 different grille surrounds, and this was the least invasive way to do it, not totally accurate, but here it is. The model is now pretty much finished, and I'll post pics in that section of the board. I haven't weathered the white parts yet, as that takes a careful touch. I got about 90% of what I was shooting for, so not too bad. Now to select a new project...
  7. Was this style of rearview mirror(s) ever kitted, or are they available on the aftermarket?
  8. I am my own worst enemy. I've been building models my entire life, and sometimes I wonder if I've learned anything. I put the exhaust manifolds on the engine wrong (upside down), and the kit parts would not line up. The engine was installed in the chassis, so it was too late to fix the problem. I decided to go with single exhaust, as I could plumb it into the manifolds and hide the join. I then discovered that the single exhaust interfered with the right cab support leg, so I created an offset support leg structure to allow for the pipe. This is very prototypically wrong, but I do want to finish the build. It shouldn't be too obvious on the finished model, but... If I had only paid attention to the instructions! I also had the chassis complete and in paint, and realized I forgot some small parts. Luckily, I was able to work them in. I remember checking clearances for the pipe with the cab floor, but did not account for the support leg part. The Transtar is a fine kit, but I'm not so sure about my own performance on this build!
  9. Thanks, Tim! It was great seeing Tim Ahlborn's trucks in person. That's always a great show. I try to never miss it.
  10. After finishing the Dodge L1000, I decided to dive into another project. I chose a Navajo Trucking CO-4000. Something different, yet much easier than the Dodge. I cut myself on my #11 blade, so I had to stop. I figured I might as well post some pictures of what I've got so far. It took five days to draw up the decals ( I do the cab and tailer decals at the same time). The face took quite some time to draw. You can't see it here, but you will on the trailer. Strange that the drip rail around the top of the cab was not molded on. Some strip styrene took care of the problem.
  11. If so, could you guide me to pictures? Thank you!
  12. Thank you everyone. I very rarely finish anything these days, it was nice to have something to share!
  13. I see you added the trunk vents. I did the same to mine.
  14. The build can be viewed in the WIP section. I actually finished something!
  15. I actually finished a model! More pics in finished section.
  16. It's mostly JoHan, anyway. 1973 Gran Torino Sport.
  17. This question was actually aimed at Oldmopars, as his W trucks are 1/25 (at least I think they are).
  18. Is this to be 1/25 or 1/24? I know your other offerings are 1/25(?)
  19. Dump all your paint, tools and parts in a pile. My workbench!
  20. My problem has been spongy bodies. Some distort just by handling them. I've had to back bodies with styrene to help it keep it's shape. I've also noticed the resin will distort at lower temperatures than two-part resin. I'm amazed at the fidelity that can be had with 3D printing. Perhaps the next step is to improve the material used to print.
  21. That WT-9000 might be the best rendition of the truck I've seen yet. I'll know for sure once I see the parts assembled. The grille bars are a little thick, but if that keeps them straight, it's worth it.
  22. It installs from the outside, and is kind of a tight fit. Don't want to screw up the paint trying to get it in. Careful sanding on the windshield edges solves the problem.
  23. I fixed a lot of shape issues on mine, but it went together just fine. The hardest part for me was the windshield installation.
  24. I know I don't say it very often, but I appreciate all the feedback. I really don't know that much about these trucks, and I've learned quite a bit on this project.
