  1. I've gotten to the point that I don't enter models in contests anymore. I just look at the models, check out the vendors, hang with friends, and go home. I could say more, but the topis is large detailed models in contests, not the integrity of the contest itself. I suppose the day will come when you can't compete without a 3D printer, and a small machine shop. File and sandpaper guys like me are on the way out. My opinion, anyway.
  2. Here goes: On most oil filters, the threaded side is "down", which would make your oil filter decal upside-down. I told you it was trivial. I still say nice model, though.
  3. Had a nit, but changed my mind about posting it. Nice model!
  4. Half one style of grille, half another...interesting.
  5. Oldmopars is working off my 2D cad drawing to make a 3D file for 3D printing the front grille and headlight areas. Once these parts are printed, I'll build the front end around them. Work is in progress.
  6. One of the problems I've seen with 3D printed hubcaps/wheelcovers is that they tend to be TOO accurate. If there is an area that needs to be painted black, for instance, the depth should be exaggerated to make it paintable. On this hubcap, if one had to paint around the bowtie or the radial depressions, it would be difficult to do with everything in scale. If you plated this and THEN had to paint those areas, it might be impossible. The rendering sure looks good, though. I HAVE to learn this skill...
  7. Three references for you...lots of pictures. Good luck on this, very cool. Video is a 4 door, but you get the idea... https://www.classicautomall.com/vehicles/1385/1966-cadillac-coupe-deville https://www.savannahclassiccars.com/vehicles/196/1966-cadillac-coupe-deville
  8. After running into roadblocks on my other projects, I circled back to this. I've made the inner wall panels out of .015 sheet. This will allow me to detail the panels off the model, and help hold the "glass" in. Not much, but something.
  9. Problem is, there's no scale. Is the "doorway" 1 inch high? 50 feet high?
  10. I'm having a real bad time trying to get the printing texture out of my bumpers and trim pieces of 3D printed bodies. The texture is so aggressive ( and I use the highest quality bodies that are offered), that I'm softening or destroying the detail and contours. Anybody have a technique for doing this successfully?
  11. https://www.ebay.com/itm/203824341036?hash=item2f74e0a02c%3Ag%3AIusAAOSwSTVh7t1Y&nma=true&si=wojEfCidwZPV2Xte%2FRuXeB5w9OI%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 I had 3, but I sold them all. This is a link to one sold on eBay.
  12. I've started a master for the 1972 Montego GT. Does the side profile look OK? This will probably be my last master as I feel 3D printing has pretty much taken over. Maybe now I'll have more time to build those 3D printed cars!
  13. Is the idea here to build the Dart as close to your Duster as possible, and use it as a stand-in for the Duster. If you're not actually trying to build a Duster, I can save loads of advice that won't help you.
  14. Looks like a great kit. I only wish it were 1/25. Well, that leaves more for those who don't mind the scale.
  15. Looks like the Truck/Boat/Trailer idea is pretty popular...At least you're working on yours!!
  16. I hope there are many good things about being retired...if I can ever make the numbers work. Maybe someday. I am glad you are enjoying it!
  17. Great looking model! There was a strip of chrome on top of the doors and front fenders that AMT didn't see fit to add to the kit.
  18. I'll be there with the gang...but no entries.
  19. I had a '76 model. I had the bench seat, but the interior pattern is identical to what you show. I built a model of my old car:
  20. If anyone has pics of the underside of this, or a similar Winnebago, I would be most grateful. Anything would help. I've got references for everything but underneath. I'd like to see what the tanks and plumbing (etc.) look like in place.
  21. The GMC: I need to finish the bucks for the windshield and rear window. Assuming I don't add rivets, the body could be ready in a few days. I expect any day now to have someone 3D print one, and render mine obsolete.
