I've already done the lawn furniture frames in brass, just need to add the webbing.

It's getting time to beat up and weather this trailer. If it's not beat up, it can't be Rockford's trailer. Trouble is, I'm having trouble getting up the courage to weather it.

Here's some cabs I've made out of sheet styrene. None of them are done, but you can see where I'm going with them.

I enjoyed it as well. Nothing will ever surpass the New Hope Star Destroyer flyover. I had never seen anything like that in my life. WOW! I think the 1977 release will always be my favorite because I had never experienced anything like it before. Nowadays, awesome effects are pretty much a given.

AMT 1976 Chevrolet Nova "Street Custom"
Repstock replied to Junkman's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
In my opinion. If AMT and MPC did the same car, As far as the look of the body goes, typically the MPC is superior. All my Novas and Venturas of this generation are MPC. -
Looks great! For those of you considering a '65 Bonneville build, the Bonneville script in the grille should be on the hood. The change might be more hassle than it's worth, but at least the info is out there...I like the Iris mist!

Is there a commonly available spray paint that approximates the Rockford Firebird Copper/Gold?

Thank you all for this. Tired of generic "Happy Holidays".

In the original, the Star Destroyer flyover scene was worth the ticket price by itself. I had never seen anything like that!

I appreciate it. It might take awhile for me to follow up on the offer, but I'll keep your info. -
Ford W series request
Repstock replied to Repstock's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Not yet, but I intend to. -
Hello, Terry! I also live in central Ohio (Columbus). I think you'll enjoy it here.

I use Brake Fluid. If it fails, I use Easy-off. In the cases where it doesn't work well, Testor's Easy Lift Off (ELO) does. I've even stripped Tamiya and Duplicolor lacquers, though it may take a few sessions.

Anyone have a clear view of the roof of the pictured style of the Ford W series cab? I know there's ribs up there, and I want to get them right. As I understand, the older W had a smooth roof.

It seems as though we've stumbled onto a topic worthy of it's own thread..."The difficulties of being self-employed". It doesn't matter if you get a regular paycheck that's not enough, or don't know if/when you'll get paid and it's still not enough. One kind of not enough is not "tougher" than the other. People paid regularly at less than they need do not have it easier. We're all having a tough time. The difficulties of being self-employed are true and they stand on their own. No comparison with 40 hour a week employment is necessary to establish your point(s). Although I doubt this was the intent, It feels like everyone who is not self-employed is having their situation trivialized. We're all in this together.

I imagine being self employed is very challenging. I'm not sure what to make of your first sentence. This was never meant to be a who-has-it-toughest contest. There are many people worse off than me, but that doesn't improve my position one bit. However, I see the little smiley guy at the end of the post, so maybe I'm taking this too seriously...It's hard to tell intent when reading a post.

I was looking over old pay stubs and did some math. I have gotten raises in the past few years, and I wanted to see how much real world difference they made. After all deductions, my raise from 2011 to 2012 added $6.55 cents a week. From 2012 to 2013, another $5.24 was added to my weekly pay. From 2013 to 2014, $9.33 was added weekly. From 2014 to 2015, $13.82 a week was added. I wonder how much the cost of living has gone up in that time? It's better than being unemployed or not getting raises, but that doesn't mean it's good. I would imagine I've lost ground in terms of buying power. I wonder how typical this is?

The Duel Project
Repstock replied to Stuntman Mike's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Is the plan to create replicas of the vehicles, or to make a diorama? I've often wondered how a diorama would be handled, because you never see all the truck driver in the movie, but it would be hard to avoid in a diorama. Whatever you decide, what you have is most impressive. That Valiant really looks nice so far. -

It's an old build. I used an AMT Ford C600 for the donor. The H series specific stuff was scratchbuilt. No resin parts. The motor came from a Freightliner, I think. Thank you for the kind words. -

Moebius 67-72 Ford Pick-up news
Repstock replied to Dave Metzner's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
No. The idea seems workable enough, but the execution just doesn't cut it for a resin master. It's just not crisp enough. -
