  1. I'm taking a short break from this project and actually building a car. In the meantime, I built two Engine testers, one of which will be in my Texaco station.
  2. Here's the eBay images of the toilets. This is what I started with.
  3. Here's the latest progress on the restrooms. The bowls and seat ring were Crackerjack prizes, and the sink bowls were aftermarket. The rest is scratch. Both restrooms. Men's room Ladies room
  4. The show might not be that popular, but I'd like one of the Lincolns from the show "Cannon". I'd like a kit of the Mark IV. Problem is, besides stock, what can you do with it?
  5. Here's progress on the pumps.
  6. Here's progress on the station. This is slow work.

    1969 GTO

Nice interpretation of this car. If, I may, this is a 1968 GTO. Front end and back end and vent windows indicate 1968. This is just for information, it doesn't detract from your build at all.
  8. After attempting some of the suggestions given, I decided to use music wire for the rigging. Even though it doesn't have the twisted strand quality, I couldn't stand having any sag, and using wire solves that problem, as long as I don't bend it. I've started on the dolly wheels. I've never driven a tow truck, so any diagrams or information on how the dolly looks and how it is mounted would be cool.
  9. Here's a Holmes 500 wrecker I've been working on for my Texaco station project. The white parts are scratchbuilt with Evergreen and Plastruct styrene. The dark parts are from the parts box or spare diecast parts. The Chevy (or will it be a GMC?) cab mockup shows where I'm going with this. Question: What should I use to rig this thing? Certainly not thread! Is there a product out there made for this kind of work?
  10. Everything is lighted (or WILL be lighted) with LEDs. I have a 12V power source that can handle hundreds of them simultaneously.
  11. While the walls were drying, i decided to start on the pumps. I want to light them, and save money, so I made my own.
  12. I'm posting this from work. I have lost internet access at home. When it is restored, I'll start updating. Work on the station continues. All lighting is from LEDs.
  13. I could use that deluxe wheel cover!
  14. I have started the "B" design and am posting it in another thread. I was wondering...was this a "style" of station with a name, like the "Denver" or "Matawan"? I am curious to find out as much as I can about it. It's one thing to just copy the measurements off a building, it's another to really know something about it.
  15. See you there, Kris, Kevin, and Jeff!
  16. The wall with the bay doors is complete. The letters were carved from .060 styrene. I'm glad that it's over with! Paint is DupliColor White acrylic lacquer.
  17. Some progress has been made. the little tower is pretty much done. I've started painting some walls. The color is DupliColor white acrylic lacquer.
  18. Nice color! Wondering if wiper delete is intentional?
  19. Added lights under the overhang...progress continues slowly. Sorry for poor photos, but it gives you the idea...
  20. There is a used car dealer across town that is using this style of building. I checked the county auditor site, and their building had been built in 1968 as a Texaco station. I visited the dealer and he allowed me to measure and photograph the building. After creating drawings form the measurements, I used photographs to return the appearance to original. The tower part was not present on the dealership, so I guesstimated it's dimensions using photographs.
  21. The real station was located a few blocks from where I grew up. It's in 1/25 scale. the walls are gatorboard covered with .060 styrene. It's hard to photograph white in normal room conditions, but here goes...
  22. Compare these front ends. They changed the front end structure after '73, and JoHan just squished a '75 grille into the '73 opening. The front bumper is a 1973 bumper, not a '75. I'm surprised no one has noticed this. If you want this style of Cutlass, the '73 is the only decent one.
  23. I've since added a different Shell and Gulf.
  24. I've decided on option B. I've got most of the external scribing done, and I've started on the windows. This will be a long-term project. I'll post pictures when I get a chance. Thanks for your input!
