Guess what's happening Jan 2?
Repstock replied to Ramcharger's topic in Model Club News and Announcements
I live in the immediate area, and would love to attend, but it's my son's birthday. Oh, well... -
I scratch built those. All I remember is starting with a 1973 ElDorado wheel cover. I don't remember what I did from there.

Looks great! I wish you were making the whole station!
-
For me the worst part was cutting out all those letters from .040 styrene. Once you get past that, it gets better.

Just finished this small diorama. Building is mostly .060 styrene. 1/25 scale of course!

Hess Training Van Conversion
Repstock replied to dptydawg's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I've done this conversion. I kept the body halves together, and added interior parts from the bottom. After the interior was done, I added the floor, then built the chassis. I'm leaving a link to my build in the hopes some of the pics might be useful to your build. It's a cool project! Remember, the model is wrong. These were front wheel drive, not rear wheel. I used the engine/trans from a beat up ElDorado promo. http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Repstock/library/GMC%20Motorhome%20Project?sort=3&page=2 http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Repstock/library/GMC%20Motorhome%20Project?sort=3&page=1 http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Repstock/library/GMC%20Motorhome%20Project?sort=3&page=2 -
Sounds like an objective review. I'm very intimidated when making these masters because I want buyers to be happy with what they get. There's always people who know more than I do about about these subjects. I wish I could attend to every little thing, but honestly, mastering takes so long I have difficulty staying interested long enough to finish everything. I can't wait to see some of these built, I hope everyone enjoys them. I've always wanted a 1/25 Econoline of this vintage, and I thank Jeff for helping me make it happen. I gave him the master with just a coat of primer because he's much better at smoothing things out than I am. I think few casters would sell all this for less than $90.00, so kudos again, Jeff, for trying to keep this within reach of as many modelers as possible. Can't wait to build mine.

What to do when the love is gone?

I just push on through. If I had to be in the "mood" every time I sat down, I'd never get anything done. My projects are usually drawn out and time intensive. I feel like I owe the family a completed project every now and then to justify the time I spend on it. It is just a hobby, but if I'm not moving forward, I feel like I'm wasting my time. I also find that completing some little part of the task sometimes makes the whole project look better. This is just me, I'm not implying my way is the right way, just an opinion. -
What, now I need to be TRI-lingual?

What is pau, then?...finished (pau) models...

This Ford looks exactly like a 352 powered Galaxie I used to own. It later became an engagement and wedding ring for my wife of now 23 years. It was a cool looking car and I really enjoyed it. Thanks for the memories, Ron! As a side note, I got the wheelcovers at the local Ford dealer. Still on the shelf in 1988.

Even though this truck has an 8 foot bed made from a Blazer, I have three resin 8' beds waiting to be used. I can't for the life of me remember who cast them, and I don't know if they're still available. I think it was Race Motor Replicas.

What a good idea...

What are you going to use for siding? I haven't found anything commercially available that matches Winnebago siding. I've drawn up a Winnebago Chieftain on AutoCad, just haven't started it yet. I need more chassis and underside shots. Can't wait to see yours!

I have a few of these, and they're 1/24. Nice repaint, it does make a nice work van.

1974 Econoline
Repstock replied to Repstock's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Looks like JeffB has this near ready for introduction. Check it out in the RESIN and AFTERMARKET section. I'm looking forward to building one of these. I hope you guys enjoy it as well. -
Not a vendor, but I've been to all of the Buckeye Classics so far, and I plan to attend this one as well. I really enjoy this show. I see it's in Hilliard this year. The old location was outgrown, I hope?

That's my first car. I drove it as a Junior in high school. It was replaced by a '69 LeMans. The body is not resin, and the roof is resin, from Tom Coolidge. The car was off white with a bronze/copper interior. Finally, no, it is no further along today than it appears in the picture. Thanks for the compliment!

On the kit body, the windshield top is too low. If you cut the plastic up to the top molding line, it will look better and the kit glass will cover it. Then you'll need to score a new molding line. I agree, Tom.This is the procedure I've used on my builds.

I have done the conversion to standard wheelbase. The outer bed sides are done, but the inner bed sides are not. A caster has already expressed interest, so when I get these done, i'll send them to him. Short answer is, this is in the works. By the way, the bed sides have all the trim so they'll match the cab. The wheel well has been relocated and slightly reduced in size. (The Camper Special wheel well is larger and taller than standard, as well as being further back).

your work bench

This is it. The most important tool is the glasses. That little box under the Mustang pictures contains a ventilation fan that has been on continuously for over 21 years!
