  1. I bought these '71 and '72 Impalas for less than one mint one because they all had roof damage, either melted or broken. The Caprice kits allowed me to fix them.
  2. I don't have a picture, but I just purchased the ATL issue of the GMC Astro 95 off craigslist for $5.00. It was sealed but a bit crushed and dirty, so I opened it to see how bad it was damaged, and there was NO damage, the chrome was still shiny, and the decals had just the slightest yellowing. I thought it was a pretty cool find. As a side note, when I called the lady, she told me it was first come, first served. After I got off work, I went to her house and picked it up. As I was leaving, I saw a truck with a driver looking like he was searching for an address. He pulled into the driveway I had just pulled out of.
  3. Yes. The '77 Monte Carlo is in blue, a 1975 Cutlass is red, and the white is .060 sheet styrene. I wanted to be able to use the Monte Carlo glass.
  4. Thanks. Hopefully the rest will turn out OK.
  5. Thank you! I haven't worked on it since the last pictures. I've done a few cars, and I've completed plans for the Rockford Files trailer. The Texaco station needs work on the roof sections, there is much painting involved, and my garage (I have no paint booth) is really cold right now. The station is so large that a base is out of the question right now. If my kids eventually find residences of their own, I'll take over the basement and finish all the buildings I've started. When it warms up, I'll get back on this and at least get the building done.
  6. Very clean building. always a pleasure to see replica stock. Extra effort in the interiors really pays off.
  7. I will never understand this issue. There will never be a perfect model, and I can accept that. Can I do a better job than Moebius? No way. Does that mean I'm an anal retentive crybaby if I notice inaccuracies? I don't see why it would. If nothing else, these so called "rivet counters" have pointed out things I was unaware of, and have given me the opportunity to fix (or not fix) an inaccuracy. I really appreciate the model companies, Moebius in particular, putting such effort in these great kits. I'm going to buy a bunch of the Ford pickups. But DON'T stifle the rivet counters. They point out issues (tactfully or not), that I can check for myself and decide if I agree with them or not. I have learned a lot from them. Some of my models are better because of them. Do we really want the board to just be cheerleaders for the model companies, or do we want real discussion? Real discussion is sometimes painful, irritating, and difficult. For those of you who just build as a pastime, for fun only, try to understand there are those of us who want to accomplish more. If I'm not going to do my best, I don't want to do it...even if it's just a hobby. I find no fun in a project if I'm not doing my best. I will never build a perfect model, but my result usually reflects my effort. I want to hear ALL aspects of a kit, good and bad. I will learn, I will get better. Thank you, Moebius, great job! Thank you, rivet counters, I've learned from you.
  8. I agree. The ones from the JoHan Comet (C:112-200) are really the best I've seen.
  9. I'd have to get one just for the box art, assuming it's the same as the one pictured.
  10. The question is which debate is the biggest. I would have to say Ford vs. Chevy. I've had both and like them both. The only Mopar I have ever owned is a Grand Caravan. I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that's not the type of iron we're really talking about here.
  11. How wide is this model?
  12. Perhaps this will help...
  13. This was built from the Chevelle wagon kit. A homely, unloved 4 door with a six. Pardon the black blob on the interior door panel, that got by me.
  14. Does the builder supply flares, spoilers, etc.?
  15. I'm taking a short break from this project and actually building a car. In the meantime, I built two Engine testers, one of which will be in my Texaco station.
  16. Here's the eBay images of the toilets. This is what I started with.
  17. Here's the latest progress on the restrooms. The bowls and seat ring were Crackerjack prizes, and the sink bowls were aftermarket. The rest is scratch. Both restrooms. Men's room Ladies room
  18. The show might not be that popular, but I'd like one of the Lincolns from the show "Cannon". I'd like a kit of the Mark IV. Problem is, besides stock, what can you do with it?
  19. Here's progress on the pumps.
  20. Here's progress on the station. This is slow work.

    1969 GTO

Nice interpretation of this car. If, I may, this is a 1968 GTO. Front end and back end and vent windows indicate 1968. This is just for information, it doesn't detract from your build at all.
  22. After attempting some of the suggestions given, I decided to use music wire for the rigging. Even though it doesn't have the twisted strand quality, I couldn't stand having any sag, and using wire solves that problem, as long as I don't bend it. I've started on the dolly wheels. I've never driven a tow truck, so any diagrams or information on how the dolly looks and how it is mounted would be cool.
  23. Here's a Holmes 500 wrecker I've been working on for my Texaco station project. The white parts are scratchbuilt with Evergreen and Plastruct styrene. The dark parts are from the parts box or spare diecast parts. The Chevy (or will it be a GMC?) cab mockup shows where I'm going with this. Question: What should I use to rig this thing? Certainly not thread! Is there a product out there made for this kind of work?
  24. Everything is lighted (or WILL be lighted) with LEDs. I have a 12V power source that can handle hundreds of them simultaneously.
