  1. Great, thanks!
  2. Nice job! THere is a website you can use to make your custom plates, I think this is the link. http://acme.com/licensemaker/
  3. Yeah, but when the Tamiya kit came out, I could not pass it up so I already have it, but just held off building it because I do not want the RHD. SO...once I get the Aoshima, I will cast the parts needed for the LHD, and build them both.
  4. Well, I am waiting to start my Tamiya FRS after I get the Aoshima version as well, that way I can cast a LHdrive for the Tamiya as well. Looks great so far.
  5. Not sure about his life status, but he has not been logged in here since April this year it looks like.
  6. Oh yeah, always enjoy seeing mild custom work on the big sleds. Looking forward to seeing more.
  7. Nice work, I recall finding this car very appealing, and just very achievable to a late teen early 20 something for the time period.
  8. Limit the participants to folks that have a great trade history, or that are very well known and active in the hobby, you know, to help ensure the projects keeps moving along.
  9. Another option, in the dollhouse section of Hobby Lobby and I am sure other hobby shops, there is a velvet lined paper for carpets, and of course other material for carpeting.
  10. I can check, I know I have some blue streaks but I am not sure of the size. You have pics?
  11. In addition to the spacial or abstract learning concepts, a kid can also learn patience, perseverance, pride in the finished project, and eventually build a desire to learn more and ask "wonder why ..." or "I wonder how..." etc. Then, there are also those "visible engine" kits or the human organ/body kits etc.. basic knowledge could be picked up there.
  12. Very cool, currently working on a 64 myself
  13. AND..,.,.,. ,would the additional cost potentially result in better/additional kits sales. How many times have you bought a kit for the rims, or the grill, or other parts. AND how many times have you not bought a kit just because it lacked something you deemed essential. SO, if the cost were 5% more, would it result in 5% better sales. I know this is being asked as a mute point, because I am sure someone in the decision making chain has already considered this, because companies like Mobius are certainly listening to groups like this forum, and even they are not yet doing them.
  14. Way cool way of doing that. Here is a Marlin I built around 1993 or 1994, and opened the glove compartment. Left a cassett tape sitting on the door, and folded up some papaers with a strap in the glovebox, some other interior junk as well.
  15. another way is to take two part epoxy clay or putty, roll up some and form into long "threads" of putty making them as small as you need, then once in place, take a blade or toothpick and push into the putty to form the weld beads.
  16. Make the springs. Find the diameter you want with styrene, then take thin wire and wrap around the styrene, then just pull the wire off the styrene. This also alows your to control the length much easier as well. Same thing for making the very very small throttle return springs.
  17. Only if the tires were of a real company, and were the larger companies. The model companies could approach smaller tire companies which would likely be easier, or even make up their own fake brand names which would still look better than a blank sidewall.
  18. nice!
  19. Brining out the classics! Thanks for sharing.
  20. What a cool project, very creative. Looks good with the body on or off.
  21. classic styling queues for that period! What part of Indiana you from?
  22. I have always liked this car as well, looks great.
  23. I know right, looks good without being too much.
  24. I agree, seeing something that most would have just tossed in the can come back to life is a real pleasure, and your design sense is spot on for this project as well I think.
  25. cool save. Also, nice backdrop. I built that kit back in the 70s with the same front wheels but mine were all around, do not recall if they came with the kit or not.
