Disaster...... Clear part Blur
Modelbuilder Mark replied to Cien1986's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I agree, this is my first options as well. Then, if this does not work then you can try to cust relpacement glass from clear styrene or acetate sheet, or try to find a replacement part here in the "wanted" section. What kit glass was this? -
umm, where did the pics go?

I have thought that frequently when watching American pickers. SOOOooo many times, I have seen people pass up offers on stuff that I see "becoming one" with the dirt, and just can not wrap my mind around why they will not sell something that they are letting rot. Money in hand, someone else benefits by getting something they want and now it may have a new life etc... just don't get it.

Someone said I should give making rat rod tractor grills a shot and so they fired off a couple pickup truck fenders to me to take a swing. I did not want to do a typical horizontal bar tractor grill, so I held off waiting for inspiration, until I just happened to be flipping through my grills and found an Edsel grill, and in popped the idea. Here are a couple, one "from the factory" the other a bit more "used"

Dad's chopped 40 Ford (few new pics 12/01/13)
Modelbuilder Mark replied to Modelbuilder Mark's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I have had several projects going, and finally got some more done on this. (actually got more done on it, but my pics just do not come out decent most of the time) Any rate, Testor's gloss black decanted and airbrushed. Let it set up a few more days then I will polish out and clear coat. embossing powder for the floorboards rubberized mats, and there will be no back seats. My father bought his car from a police auction, previous owner was a moonshine runner, and where the back seat was, was a tank for the hooch. Dad just never put any seats back in, but did have to return the tank as a condition of the purchase. -
Anne is still on the forum, she posted to some other threads today. She very enthusiastically jumped into the hobby feet first. Even did a thread on a build up of her work area IIRC. Good luck to her. I am not sure what the drama was about, but you just have to know/expect that some folks just like to rake the muck.

Good for you Michelle! -
Thanks, I knew/understood that Photoshop could take a lot of time, but always interested in more simple and cheaper programs that will still allow some more simplified photo manipulations.

these are hilarious. What programs are you guys using to smash up these pics?

There is a product that was made for military and diorama builders by a company called Hudson and Allen Studios that makes very very fine powders that you mix wix with water to create Asphalt, concrete, mud red clay etc etc. They have muiltiple colors, and you can mix them for difference shading etc. I bought several bags more then 10 years ago, so I am not sure what is avail at this time, but they are great products.

Wow, my older brother worked on one of these in the late 70s, early 80s. Then, one of them converted into a Cola shop, not a soda fountain but rather a store that sold cases of pop, etc. In my hometown, there is still at least one of these standing.

WAY way way agree on this one. ALWAYS one of my favorite cars from childhood on. When I posted on this topic yesterday, I almost deleted them...because in reality there are simply too many that I have liked over the yers for different reasons to simply pick a hand full, that and some flaks are also going to post like you did, some of the others I have always felt were remarkable. I have a fav classic sport car, fav curret sport car, fav hot rod, fav customer etc etc. Just not enough money, and or garage to have ALL the cars I would really like to have...think Leno! LOL

LOL When I first moved out here, I learned quick not to just lay my arm on the door vs the armest when it has been sitting a hile, and that even steering wheels "warm up" from time to time. -

I am not brand loyal. I change it up depending on my needs, and what I find on clearence/sale. Recently, Hobby Lobby had a BUNCH of Testors cans on clearence, including metalizers and the laquers, so I ran to a couple locations and picked up a 25 or so cans at about $1.20 each. For the most part tho, I only shoot Tamiya primer and Testors Metalizers from the can, unless I am painting flat black or similar for chassis work or weathering etc.

What do you drive?
Modelbuilder Mark replied to gasman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
There are a LOT of great looking rides on here! Thanks for sharing folks! I just replaced my 2009 Corolla with my new FR-S about two weeks ago. And this is my wife's car, a 2012 Venza, but I do most of the driving on the weekends. -
Looking good
