Hi Liam. I like what you are doing with the Impala. Not to criticize, but after looking at your "paint booth" you must be single. Before the paint booths that everyone seems to be useing now, I used to use an old cardboard box laid on its side to help contain the overspray. Keep this build posted, look good.

Hi Joe. Look for the Revell '64 GTO. I just used the Tripower set up on a '62 Catalina (AMT) todo a Factory Stock build. The air cleaners look just like oems. On a full sized Pontiacs at that time, depending on the horepower level, Thay would either have the small air cleaners with the tops chromed or the lower power engines had the black painted large oval cleaner like the Revell '59 Impala kits. Hope this helps. I forgot, I don't think you could get a factory Tripower in '66. If I remember right that was the first year for the 400 cu in engine and Pontiac dropped the Tripower option. Depending on what you are doing you might try the duel quads out of the AMT '62 Catalina. Thay look real nice and even have fuel lines in the kit.

Looks nice. I like what you did with the grill. That must have been fun.

Hi Rob. I personaly think the 1mm blocks give it the look your after. In '62 the "look" depended on where you were and how you used your car. In 1962 I was living in Santa Monica in Socal. I was also getting tickets with a '51 Ford tudoor that sat just like your model, and was even the same shade of Rustolium primer. Look forward to following you build.

Gotta love your Great Aunt's
espo replied to Nick Winter's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Sorry for your loss. It must be comforting to know that you are held in high esteem buy your family members that gave you these models. Thay realized that you would keep them and care for them. Other wise these would have just been thrown in the trash. -
Dreaming of a model?
espo replied to jmpsebring's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If I have a hard time going to sleep at night I will lie in bed and think about the model I'm working on and the things I want to do to personlize it. Sometimes it will help me go to sleep, and sometimes it helps me to over come some problem I'm having with the build at the time. -
The state of TV and advertising.
espo replied to HotRodaSaurus's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm not sure how the laws work in the UK for showing manufacturing logos, but many US companies will charge the tv production company if they show their logo on tv. I know this makes no sense but what does anymore? It is so bad here that when my wife and I watch The Home & Garden Channel they will do the same thing to the logos on the car that the realtor is driveing on House Hunters. You would think that the free advert. would be wecomed by the companies. -
Hi Ed, Like you I have looked around OP for deals. The coupons are great IF thay have what your looking for. Michaels just keep getting the same old stuff, and Hobby Lobby will sometimes have something new. But if you want the latest as well as the reissues you might look at Hobby Haven at 105th & Metcalf. If you haven't been there thay are in the back next to the blood bank. Good people and they will tell you what and when something is comeing in. They will order anything you want. That's also where I buy my Model Cars Magazine.

Your in a cooler climate, be sure that you are not whereing any wool clothing. If you have even been whereing a wool shirt while working on your model and later try to paint it it will sometimes get into the paint.

What is Frenching?
espo replied to Bridgebuster's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have Frenched the head lights and tail lights on some models by just glueing them in the stock location. Then use a little body putty to mold them into the fender. Sand and prime, then paint. Then the light bucket can be painted silver or foiled. Then install the lense. If you want to realy get the tunneled look, get the head lights and tail lights from the new Revell Merc custom. -
I remember seeing the first photo of the '49 Ford years ago in a magazine that was for The California Highway Patrol. They had a bimonthly publication that showed wrecks that also had pictures of the officers that were working the accident. Most were far worse than this. They even had pictures of the deceased still behind the wheel. It was not pretty. It will make you realy appreciate the safty equipment inthe cars starting in the mid 50s. Remember that before that wee didn't even have seat belts and that metal dash board had lots of pretty sharp knobs everywhere.

V8 Supercars in the USA
espo replied to Hypermung's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have enjoyed watching the Super Cars for a couple of years on HD Theater on satellite dish. This year they changed their name to Volacity and are now chargeing real high prices for the satellite dish to carry their signal. I just had to draw the line on the monthly cost , so I may not get to watch it this year unless Speed or Fox has it. I saw a special last year with Daryl Walthrop in a ride along. I think he "dirted" his pants. -

Pontiac 400 heater hose question
espo replied to rhs856's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Pontiac used a line that ran from the heater to the water jacket, usually on the rear of the intake manifold. This was the way that I remember seeing it on all Pontiac V8s from 1955 thru the '70s. -
That should fin a trophy or two. Looks spot on. I used to have a 1on1 '69 Camaro. Sold it in '95 to get a new truck. Still miss that car. Your paint and detail are perfect.

These are great builds. Makes you wonder how you could stop laughing after each show long enough to build.

That is nice. How hard was the kit to work with? I've always strugeled with most resin bodies, but i would like to try this one.
