  1. Since this thread started with a question about a '62 Impala I remembered this '62 I shot at the Mooneyes Xmas Party in '06 - gassers always looked best as coupes or sedans rather than hardtops but I guess you could do something similar to this with the Impala... Here a '62 sedan done as a gasser look street car...
  2. Actually the Ford engines of that era were black, the valve covers and air cleaners were different colors depending on the output - Ford blue engines started in 1966. Here's a couple samples of '59 Ford engines from my albums... Here's a list of engine colors from '59 - '65.. YEAR, ENGINE, BLOCK AND CYLINDER HEADS, AIR CLEANER, VALVE COVERS 1959 223 Black Red Red 1959 292 Black Red Red 1959 332 Black Green Green 1959 352 Black Blue * Blue 1960 223 Black Red Red 1960 292 Black Red Red 1960 352 Black Blue Blue 1960 352 HP Black Gold open-element Gold 1961 223 Black Red Red 1961 292 Black Red Red 1961 352 Black Blue Blue 1961 390 Black Silver Silver 1961 390 HP Black Gold Gold 1961 390 HP-6V Black Oval aluminum Gold 1962 223 Black Red Red 1962 292 Black Red Red 1962 352 Black Blue Blue 1962 390 Black Silver Silver 1962 406-4V Black Gold open-element Gold 1962 406-6V Black Oval aluminum Gold 1963 223 Black Red Red 1963 289 Black White White 1963 352 Black Blue Blue 1963 390 Black Silver Silver 1963 406-4V Black Gold open-element Gold 1963 406-6V Black Oval aluminum Gold 1963 427-4V Black Chrome open-element Chrome "baldies" 1963 427-8V Black Oval aluminum Chrome "baldies" 1964 223 Black Red Red 1964 289 Black Red Red 1964 352 Black Blue Blue 1964 390 Black Gold Gold 1964 427-4V Black Chrome open-element Chrome "baldies" 1964 427-8V Black Oval aluminum Chrome "baldies" 1965 240 Black Red Red 1965 289 Black White White 1965 352 Black Gold Gold 1965 390 Black Gold Gold 1965 427-8V Black Oval aluminum Chrome "pentroof" 1965 427 SOHC-4V Black Chrome open-element Cast aluminum 1965 427 SOHC-8V Black Oval aluminum Cast aluminum * The blue used on these engines is very similar to the lighter blue used on the late-'60s Ford engines. Hope that helps!
  3. Beautiful execution on this one, but can you explain why you went with a blue engine on an otherwise stock model?
  4. If you read his post he said he was sanding the chrome off before gluing.
  5. Most local auto paint stores will do the same for about $20!
  6. Real - the fender brace and light through the grille did it for me.
  7. The other drawback is retraining costs for everyone to get up to speed driving front wheel drive or all wheel drive cars - I just had that conversation with a CHP Public Affairs officer a couple weeks ago.
  8. Don't underestimate the new Taurus, also available with the Ecoboost V6 & all wheel drive! Pics from the LA Auto Show last month.
  9. Frank - you might enjoy these images... Pics are from the John Force Holiday Show a couple weeks ago.
  10. Chuck was one of the nicest people I've met, a true gentleman and his passion for cars & models was second to none! I first met him in the early 90's when he brought a bunch of his design models from the mid-fifties to a model car club meeting. Always fascinating to listen to his stories from his days at GM. He was a huge Ferrari aficionado and that night had driven his F40 to the meeting while someone else transported his design models to the meeting. I sold him models at some of the local swap meets we used to have here in SoCal, and had a chance to hear him speak again at a San Diego Model Club meeting a few years ago. He also taught industrial design at a high school in El Cajon (I think) as a way to give back. I last had a chance to sit and talk with him at the La Jolla Concours a couple years ago - he will truly be missed! Here's a few pics from that day...
  11. I like the Challenger as a convertible... ...but, depending on who does the conversion, the top may not be aesthetically pleasing... ...saw this with the top down, then later in the day with the top up - this one looks awkward to me! The pics are from this year's Festival of LXs, click here to see them all.
  12. I'm sure if you were to spell his name correctly, Cruz Pedregon, you'd find lots of pics through Google Images!
  13. I'd go for the digital version, but the price has to be less than the printed version! Obviously no printing or distribution costs! Have you thought about a price point yet?
  14. George - you can always check my Aftermarket Resources Page - there is a link under figures!
  15. Look through the links on my Aftermarket Resources Page and you'll find lots of stuff you didn't realize you needed!
  16. Here's a sample of the '47 Diecast available...
  17. Here's the one SJS cast.. Steve listed it as a '58 based on the grille. Pics from my Resin Collection.
