  1. Funny you mention the Hornet promo, see Under Glass.........I just posted a restored '73 Hornet.
  2. This is an original promo, Jo-Han, 1973 AMC Hornet. Factory finish Maxi Blue. I did the interior in black, buffed and waxed the body and BMF'd it, replaced the wheels with some steelies sprayed gloss black, dog dish caps, and Firestone Super Sports with blue lines from http://www.vinylnationdecals.com/ Lucked out with the chrome on this one, just cleaned and polished, then some blackwash where necessary.
  3. Man, love the two tone green! Gorgeous colors! However, I do think it would look better with wide whites and Fiesta caps, but that's just my opinion. You should be proud, it's beautiful!
  4. When you said Green, I had to look............is that Mystic Emerald??? Awesome!

    69 Cheelle

I think it came out beautiful! Looks great!
  6. Jersey, this one is already restored. But, you gave me an idea.............I should do one bare flesh...... .......that would be pretty wild!
  7. I usually don't post anything on the workbench. Mostly because I'm not as talented as some builders are. But, it's a lousy rainy Friday night, and I've been playing with this thing for a few weeks now. This kit had more flash than Kodak. Mold lines were really bad as well. But, it is a 90's reissue of a 60's kit. I figure I'll have it ready for "under glass" within the next week. Paint is Colors by Boyd Bright Green Pearl, 4 coats, straight out of the can, over sanded/smoothed Duplicolor automotive primer.
  8. Didn't know where else to post this. Check out this pic. This is my '68 Imperial I recently restored. I stripped the chrome because it had gone bad. All of these parts came from the same promo. I guess Jo-Han had boxes of parts already cast, then they chromed as needed. You can see all the various colors of plastic used.
  9. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll start looking. Not great at scratchbuilding, but I should give it a try.
  10. Nice clean build!
  11. That's gorgeous Al! Perfect color choice too!
  12. It worked great! I remember those old cover shots. Neat!
  13. First let me say that your build looks fantastic! To answer your question, yes, the Ambassador script was there on the hood from the factory. Hood and body is one piece on mine due to it being a promo. I'm sure Jo-Han had to have cut the hood out of a promo body to make the opening hood for the kit. Strange it doesn't have the emblem. Perhaps someone goofed at Jo-Han, and just sanded it off the master hood?
  14. As most of you guys know, I build mostly replica stock. I do however, sometimes build nostalgia drag cars. Mostly gassers, super stock and the like. I've got some of the old Revell gassers (Thames, Henry J, Austin), and I am currently building the Thames panel. This thing has a terrible front end! Very hard to deal with and fragile, and ill fitting. So here's my question. Is there a kit out there that you guys have a favorite gasser type front end to use? Or perhaps aftermarket? I want to build more of these old gassers, but I really can't deal with those nasty front ends!
  15. I like the idea of the 32 Reo and the 32 Plymouth. I would really love to see a Chrysler Airflow 4 door. I think it would lend itself well for customs and hot rods as well as replica stock. I'd really like a '39 Plymouth 4 door as well......could maybe be a trans-kit for the '41 coupe?
  16. Some really fantastic photos guys! This is about all I can contribute from mine.
  17. Very nice build! Love the color!
  18. Here's another old promo I salvaged. Picked this one up on the 'Bay, took it apart, cleaned it, fixed one cracked A pillar, polished out the original Yuma Tan Metallic, that's the original finish on the roof, then some detailing in and out, and BMF work. Lucked out on the chrome on this one, just needed a good cleaning and polishing.
  19. Sweet! These kits just look "right". Out of the box is great for these in my opinion. Nice! I don't know about white though. I think she's beggin' for a nice candy color on that body.
  20. Looking great, I can't wait to see it done. I like your idea of the Oliver colors. Mirrors are great, and the fifth wheel deal is genius!
  21. Thanks very much guys. Jo-Han is my favorite! I wish they were still here too.
  22. That looks fantastic! Love the "fiberglass" metallic flake! Patrick, we are probably distantly related, our last name is the same. And, I still have lots of family living in the UK.
  23. Beautiful Al........I've got to build mine yet.
