Jim, Ralph Nader aside as he thinks no car is safe (we have a guy in Australia like that) the Corviar was a great car if U didn't want to turn a corner in a hurry I believe had a slight problem there BUT even the Cobra was like that great at speed in a straight line, everything else was a chore. Good car though and a great shape Chev had it right there. Dingo

Patrik, if U want to run a street car as a rally car by all means many club rally cars started out this way before being taken off the road and built into full fledge comp cars, my Toyota Corolla started its life like that as a street car and when I became serious I added a rear half roll bar to start with and when I got the money from sponsors which I picked up I my second year I made it into a full cage BUT I still drove the car every day as a street runner actually Patrik that's how I met my now wife and she eventually became my driver and I switched to the Navi/Co-Drivers seat. We loved every minute of it so sure if U want to build a rally car model out of a street car kit go ahead just remember it must look something like a rally car. To all others wishing to join this thread just remember it must look like a rally car "NO DRIFT CARS ALLOWED" it can be a club car, a state comp car, a national car, a WRC car, or even a Marathon or Trans-America rally car as long as it is a rally car of some sort and this does include tarmac rallies as well. Hope this clear things up a bit for allU budding raly car builders. Dingo

To Kyle, they look OK to me welcome to the build and let's hope this gets going unlike the other one. Dingo

Jim, I don't mind grassroots level cars as long as it doesn't look like a drift car I'm trying to stay away from these things as they sneak into too many builds these days as that is all some people think R around. By the way congrats on the top 1/4 of the field placing and say congrats to your daughter for me for doing such a great job as Navi, looks like U have a top flight navigator/CoDriver Jim. Dingo

Hi Patrick, have U moved over from the other mob if so good to see U here and let's hope it goes better than that on ehey buddy. Dingo
-
mr.camaro, both cars R acceptable all it has to be is a rally car my friend and as long as most of the parts R still on the tree (and please show that) that's OK. Dingo

62rebal, as long as it relates to rallying it can be any car, any period, actual or fictious it doesn't matter as long as it's not got anything to do with drifting as that is not rallying even though some people think it is connected because of the drift side. When U think about it 62rebel the drift that those guys do started out in rallying as it is commonly known as the Scandinavian flick where the driver gives the car a little flick to the right or left befor going the other way it's thefastest way round a corner when doing 80mp/h+ or 100kp/h+ also it's almost the safest way, I say that because the last time I did that trick with my rally car ( a Renault12 at the time) I ended up crashing into a tree going backwards at 60kp/h. Anyway back to the thread yes even the PanAmerica can go in as it's not really a raod race but a rally they use navigator gear in that. This is an Edsel I built in 2010 to represent the PanAmerican rally from the early days so U see that one can be part of it. I hope to see you on board and hope it encourages others to take part it would be great to see more than I got with the other forum. Dingo

For this build the kit must be a new kit, show all parts still on their plastic trees, they can be clean, dirty, ready to start a stage, in a service area, doing a night satge with working lights, BUT most of must be a rally car drift cars NOT allowed that is any Skyline or other car used for drifting car and provened to be either a dirt car or a bitumen rally car by that I mean it should have an interior shot showing navigatoin equipment ei; tripmeters map lights etc. other than that it is almost game on and yes marathon or Dakar type vehicles allowed including trucks. If there is not a good responce to this thread it will not go ahead. Dingo

Thanks guys, I'm going to give it a belt and see wot happens or as we say here suck it and see. Dingo

Dingo5162 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
Hey Andy, as Paul Hogan would say in Crocodile Dundee man that ain't a gun this is a gun and boy Andy that is one hell of a gun wouldn't mind that in my gun locker. Dingo -
It will be either one or the other BUT not both as I don't have time to do both, apart fom looking at this interne thing I have a wife to look after and she is very demanding with her disability and all. This may yet be scratch built either of plastic or cardstock & cardboard. And the basis for my S.A.R. Kenworth Hook Loader. Dingo

Jonathan, the XT Falcon is a 1968-69 model had a 302 Windors putting out 230hp. I haven't worked out a colour for it yet but likely to go with plum crazy which was a Ford Australia colour and used on GT's back then, in the time of the Oz GT there where 6 different years of GT's and 3 specials made, for a while I had an XY GT which was claimed as the fastest 4 door production car made and only 200 were built but now there are many fake XY GT & GTHO's around but they R built from Falcon 500 sedans and U can't buy one for less than $30,000Aust which is crazy, to buy an original if U can find one would set U back a cool $1 million for any of them. So that's a bit about my model and my real car hope U liked it. Dingo

Inky & Hessel, the bar and lights on the front of the pictured Pete are my doing they don't come with th printout so please don't go looking for them U will be disappointed in not finding them. Thanks for U'r comments. Dingo

I have started a new project which will be built as a car carrier for an end of year model show it will look like the one pictured below with a few mods done to it so a frame can be added to the cab. This is not the model I will be using but similar to the one I will be building so please don't get confused. Reference photos only. Dingo

You know people say we're headed for Global warming, with the temp at a mild 26 degrees Celcius at the moment and likely to get cooler as summer (February is the last month of summer in Australia) is coming to an end all I can say is bring it on. Normally we get two weeks of 38-42 degrees Celcis temps but this year so far zip, zilch, buckas plus nothing oh well maybe we might get hit in March with an Indian summer who knows only the weather Gods, anyway my friend try and stay warm til summer heads your way and keep building those great car & truck kits. Dingo

OK Jonathan, you can put me down for this build even though I'm doing it in the Gumball Rally as well I think I can get it up and running in this one also. I will be building an Australian Ford Falcon XT GT sedan. All I have to do now is aquire a Ford Mustang for the chassis & running gear and get the dash from a local aftermarket maker and it's go. Dingo

Hey Ian, Great build so far mate I'm building a B-triple at the moment and was going to use Auslowes kits to do it with BUT seeing that U have cut down the standard trailer into the B-Double config has given me an idea for mine so thanks for that now I can go ahead with mine and all I ave to do is get the tri axle wheel set-up. Dingo
-
I know U have changed the rules slightly which is a disappointment BUT I still think that a 5th wheeler doesn't qualify as a semi-trailer (tractor-trailer rig for my U.S. Friends) otherwise U are going to end up with a thread full of 5th wheelers. Oh by the way I will be (hopefully) entering a Kenworth S.A.R. Hook Loader or a Peterbilt prime mover with trailer. Dingo

Hey Shawn nice Monaro, I've got the Falcon XT GT from the Partsbox picked it up when Jason was at the custom & hotrod show at Lenswood late last year but was disappointed that it had no dash in it that's flippng extra. Also when I was a young man I owned a HT of the Monaro then a HT panel van both where nice cars but the coupe was better as it was a 327 a rare machine, twas a pity it got stolen from the drive of my parents home one night when I was visiting them oh well thems the breaks hey Shawn, never saw it again. Hey guys thanks for all U'r replies it was great to read all about U'r temps in the States, we are now at around 26 degrees C and loving it if U'r wondering and kinda think I hate the heat U'r right I'd rather be with U guys in the cold or cool 12 to 20 degrees C is more my liking also when it does nudge 38c here that's when it's pushing the 100f mark and late last summer 2010 we did for one week have 38 to 42 degrees C and man we cooked but now my wife and I can cpe as we got ourselves a decent air con for our bedroom which is also nice and quiet, anyway my friends again thanks for answering and hope U all warm up soon. My Collection of Trucks
Dingo5162 replied to Dingo5162's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
By the way guys the rigs i the last photo are all cardstock (paper). Dingo -
Here in my home town of Adelaide, South Australia we are just getting over a hot spell of around 36-38 degrees C, BUT each night we have been treated to a spectacular display of red sky at night and as the saying goes "Red sky at night saliors delight Red sky in the morning saliors warning" quite frankly after being a salior for 30 odd years I'm still trying to work that out as I've never sailed at night from port although I've been out out night. Anyway getting back to wot this is all about I took this photo the other night with a simple Kodak easy shot camera that belongs to my neighbour and I think it turned out fairly good. What is your opinion: Also this was shot in the Eastern sky. Dingo
