What Did You Have for Dinner?
JollySipper replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Sometimes I'll make a Knorr pasta side and put a can of either tuna or chicken in it.... That's usually really good. Tonight I had some chicken breast tenderloins from the indoor grill, a Knorr mushroom flavored rice side, and the real treat was some jalapeno cheese cornbread made by my neighbor friend...... A man-sized meal, because I'm a man-sized guy! -
Guys, I've decided to pull this huge monster of a kit back out! It got put on the back burner while I worked on the '49 Ford.... I believe I'm gonna try a different approach this go with this kit, and add some details like plumbing and some simple wiring. First detail I tried was the vacuum canister on the shaker's snorkel... Looks okay I think! The hose is just a piece of insulated wire..... Hard to get a pic of, but it shows plainly in real life. Also working on the white letters on the tires, here's a couple done...... I will be getting the big scale '57 T-Bird and plan on using the aluminum slots on this build. I need to order some materials, but the plan is to do the major under-hood stuff like heater hoses, fuel lines, brake lines, etc....... So, this is back on the bench, but will be a long-term build.... Thanks for looking and comment freely!

1/16 distributor and carburetor?
JollySipper replied to JollySipper's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Here's a resin Holley from Ted's modeling marketplace..... It looks a little better than the kit one, but still needs linkage... https://www.tedsmodelingmarketplace.com/holley-dominator-4bbl-carburetor-1-16/ Thought I might get one.... The transmission in the kit is a 4-speed, which is fine with me as the 1:1s had a manual behind the 400 engine. Thanks for the replies, guys! -

1934 Ford 3-Window Billet Street Rod 1/16
JollySipper replied to Jordan White's topic in WIP: Model Cars
This is gonna be cool! Just like the cars in the auto mags back in the day.... Whatever graphics you put on the body will need to be on the door panels and headliner also, in true '90s fashion! -
1/16 distributor and carburetor?
JollySipper replied to JollySipper's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Mike, man, I found out about this site called Ted's Modeling Marketplace.... They have a carb in 1/16 for like $3, along with all size lines and hoses! Will most def be ordering some stuff for the T/A.... Just thought I would pass the word so you could check it out yourself....... -

Glad you guys are enjoying the build! I'm enjoying it, too...... David, I plan on using the toothed grille and bumperettes. I think that will be nice.... Thanks....

1/16 distributor and carburetor?
JollySipper replied to JollySipper's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks for all the research you've done, Mike! The more I look at this kit, the less detailed it is..... I may just have to get some materials and try to scratch build a distributor. The carb is hidden for the most part by the shaker..... Thanks again..... -
Cool! I liked that movie a lot..... The folks who made it did another movie in the same 'animation over live action' style called "Waking Life".... It's about this kid who gets into deep philosophical conversations with random people. it's pretty good, but not as good as the above mentioned movie.......

Hey, guys.... Got the color coats finalized, I tried to clear it, but the DupliColor I'm using for clear kept blushing. I'm going to have to wait for drier weather before I can finish. Meanwhile, here's a mock-up of how everything's gonna look together! I kinda like how it looks like "suede" paint.... It won't be much longer and this will be finished!

A Scanner Darkly.... Excellent Movie! It has an all-star cast, which includes Keanu Reeves, Wynona Ryder, Woody Harrelson, and Robert Downy Jr.. They filmed the entire movie, then went over it with a digital animation, like a "drawing" over the film. It's a real trip to watch..... The premise is well thought out, also. Reeves plays a drug user that is being used by his girlfriend who is an undercover officer (Ryder) to find the source of the drug....... This is on my "favorite movie" list, I chose to tell you of this one because most of you have probably never heard of it, much less seen it....

Wasn't there a Smokey and the Bandit TV show a while back? I believe it was about the same time that the Viper show was aired..... They drove a Dodge Stealth or something....

Hey, guys! I'm working on the 1/16 Trans Am from MPC..... I would like to find a (possibly wired?) distributor and a Quadrajet carburetor for it. Having these two parts would inspire me to further detail this kit. Is there anywhere that would have these ready made? or Maybe another kit that would have these parts? Thanks for any help!

That's a really good movie........

Well, I had a small mishap with the paint.... I tried to mask for the second color over bare Tamiya paint. I ended up with adhesive marks in it. I guess I should have cleared over the first color (the pink) before trying to mask for the second...... Lesson learned! Tomorrow I'll sand everything smooth and just shoot it in one solid color.... Minor setback, but frustrating nonetheless........ I want to thank you guys for letting me post progress pics of my little projects..... You're the only modeling folks I have to share with..... Thanks!

Thanks, Fellas! Really all that's left to do is the paint work on the body, and I got a step closer with that by priming it today...... If the weather is nice tomorrow, I may get to paint and clear it! Then it's foil and final assembly...... Thanks!

no, under WHERE..... (no underwear? wait a minute.....)

What did you see on the road today?
JollySipper replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Had my first glimpse at a C8 today...... I kinda liked it! There's not many people in our little town that could afford one. It was white....
