2012 POST APOCALYPSE/ZOMBIE HUNTER COMMUNITY BUILD

Lots of nice detail and kibble on this. Is this one of the Araii Superbeetles? -
Nice stock build. My '64 was that color. I have this kit waiting to be built, Tamiya kits are usually trouble free and well detailed, even the curbsides. The only chincy thing I've seen them do is reuse the Beetle floorpan for the Karmann Ghia by adding material on the sides.

I used to watch them. I don't go out of my way to see them, only if I'm not doing anythign when they're on. I remember Danica Patrick doing the intros, before she hit it big.

Rob, I'm glad I'm not the only one whose trash cans look like that. -

Wow, Ken. Do you have more reference pictures than the ones I've seen? I've only seen about 4 pics of this car. -
Not to be an ass, but you just made it look weirder, and created a shear point where the front bar and rear bar are offset on the main hoop. Your main hoop is too narrow, it should be as wide as possible, and possibly taper above the doorline. This cage would never pas safety inspection. Your construction is well done, but its not following a sensible form. I would suggest a do-over and replicate the cage in the picture.

2012 POST APOCALYPSE/ZOMBIE HUNTER COMMUNITY BUILD

Been working on the interior, nothing interesting to take pictures of yet. Got the "boxes" on the rear shelf to look like cardboard to my satisfaction. Trying to gather up parts for the interior. If only the tool packs on ebay werent so expensive. -
This is Monogram's Cobra, from about 1990. One of the first models I painted with an airbrush. It had been in storage for about 8 years. I recently fixed it up, after putting it back together. Originally: The headlights had always been missing, so I filled them to look like b/o plates. also lost a taillight lens while boxed up. First, and last time I try to use cyanoacrylate on clear . Originally had the steerign wheel black, and I detailed the gauges better.

I got this as Ritchie Ginther's car. Someone had started the kit and brush painted the body and floor. They also lost the speedster windshield. The Fuchs that came with it are horrible, so I used a set from one of Revell's 68 Beetles. I would've painted this as Ritchie's car, but the decal sheet was brown, and then I misplaced them. Not too keen on the orange padding, Im gonna repaint that. The driver is one from the Fujimi driver pack.

Neat and unusual. Plus that Pla-Doh gives me a great idea for a prank. -
Stupid Things You've Done While Modeling

When I was about 14, I used the chisel attachment on my new X-acto set to seperate some glued togeher parts. While I was holding it. Cut the back of my thumb, nearly to the bone. Blood on the floor, blood in the hallway, blood everywhere. Nearly passed out. I learned my lesson good, haven't cut myself with an hobby knife or any razor blade since. -
the headaches will pay off some day

Four motors with cam gears. The way it looks now you will get front and back hopping. Gears look like they could be changed for side to side. -
IIRC, Matchbox had a Super King truck similar to this, also a two-armed tow truck with a similar cab.

Nice work, Rob and Ken. I want to get that wrecker, but the cost is scaring me away. I had the original Captain Hook when I was kid. Ironically, it was also part of my foray in post-apocalypse modeling. I had built a huge cow-catcher type ram on the front and used it to ram other models. eventually the wheels & axles snapped too many times to repair. -

Thanks, Krule. I got that link off the other forum, too. I've already cut up the rear shelf and started gathering bits for the interior. I've got a camo net, but I can't find it... progress is gonna slow on fiddling with the interior -
I used Duplicolor aluminum on the body, polished that and Testors dark gull Grey on the front & rear. I used gloss clear over the front & rear, looks shinier in RL than in the pics... This is the original AMT release, from 1990 ish, it's made by Aoishima, just repacked in an AMT box. If there was a BTTF III car, I could see why that one wouldn't have teh hover option.

Which kit is this? This car is on my to-do list. Aoshima made a boso type one, but I havn't seen it in years. Fujimi made a few different ones, and there is the Tamiya kit. Araii made one, which I'm kinda suspicious of. I've never built one of their cars, but their mechs are troublesome and have alot of flash.
-
Nice work. Still a shame they never sold these here, before the Infinity G35, or the unobtainable GTR.
-
Artsy shots...
-
Moar... Extreme camber You cant see it, but there's a smaller arm that looks like an offset combo wrench inside of the big, uh, arm.

Took some new pics, this time in focus!

Got most of the chassis done, and got the gas cans painted. Also layed down the basecoat on the body and fuel tanks. From this angle, the driveshaft looks like a seperate piece. That's right, I'm good... Body waiting to cure enough for the two tone paint job.
