  1. Looking forward to more of this ....
  2. Looks good so far. I hope you're putting an engine like that in your build.
  3. I definitely like this build, and I agree that the color choice is great.
  4. This is inspiring me to finish my funny car. Thanks Tim for showing and teaching.
  5. The guys at Worm Inc., Grantville, PA might be of help. They have built a couple nostalgia funny cars and I think they did one of this car. Their number is 717-469-9676.
  6. Tim, more stunning results. Looks great.
  7. Excellent job. The detailing - especially fuel lines - looks great.
  8. Looking really good Bernard. I will definitely follow this build.
  9. Nice job. Love the Pro Stocks.
  10. That's incredible Chris. Great work. Looks like it fits and performs perfect.
  11. I hope all is well RickArt and that you'll post updates soon.
  12. Great results Tim. What brand of CF decals did you use?
  13. Randy - thanks for sharing your amazing work here. Wow. I saw Tim's note about your GT40 build and just went through it. My breakfast is now a cold pile of sludge. Your knowledge and experience in other scale hobbies really add to the realism of this build and help us realize what other materials are out there to be used. And the reference shots you have I'm sure are a huge help. I was able to get lots of shots of Bruce Larson's funny cars and he endured all my questions. I look forward to more of this project.
  14. Ok, I should have googled the info first. Here's what I found on a forum......The finish has nothing to do with the lamination method. Both a matte finish and a gloss finish can be achieved on a dry carbon or wet lamination lay up. It is merely a coating that is added AFTER the part is removed from the tool during the finishing stages. There is more to it than that... but thats just the easiest way to understand it. both can have UV protection applied. marketing gets confusing because there is no exact spec or definition of dry vs wet. dry carbon is often said to have a matte finish, so they call matte finish carbon dry carbon fiber, which is false. Vacuum Infusion regardless weather it uses pre-preg or not is still wet carbon. however if an autoclave is used using pre-preg that is real dry carbon. as said above you can have the look of matte or glossy with either type. the process of making that look either way varies from manufacture to manufacture depending on wet or dry process
  15. Can't wait to see more results. Superb stuff. My limited knowledge of CF is that the newer, better fiber has a glossy finish to it, so your plan to use the clear gloss would be right. I would heed Chris' info with the urethane. Guys, correct me if I'm wrong on the CF finish.
  16. Excellent work. Looks very clean.
  17. Superior results from talented hands. Looking forward to more.
  18. This build looks great so far Niko. The detail painting of the interior is top notch. Looking forward to more.
  19. Looks great. Love the paint and patina. Love rat rods.
  20. Randy - just went through the whole thread. Had not seen it yet. WOW. I now have a permanent case of bug eye. I have to go push them back in. Questions : what size springs did you use for the coilovers? What did you use for the strap that holds the coil? I've read other builds where guys used tape to make a fan belt. Aren't you concerned that the paper might dry out and come loose or off in the future? And what do you do about the tarnishing you mentioned? Do you put a coat of car wax on the copper and brass?
  21. Still speechless......almost. I would have to use a jeweler's loupe to be able to see what I'm doing if I attempted what you do.
