HARBOR FREIGHT 6 AIRBRUSH SET
Merkur XR4Ti replied to kustomkat1's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Sorry to bump this old thread, but I'm in the market for a compressor as well and Harbor Frieght has a bewildering variety of them. Is this one a good choice? It looks like it to me, but I have zero experience with compressors. And $70 strikes me as extremely reasonable. It puts out 30 PSI, which is just about the maximum anyone would need for airbrushing, and has a regulator to get it down to the 12 PSI recommended for the "Norbie Technique." Here's another at $80 that also looks good. Any help? -
They have orange-flavored Beck's? Just kidding, looks like you're off to a good start.

I am blown away by how good that looks. HOLY SMOKES. What paint did you use for the black interior? The satin finish looks PERFECT.

Just who is "The Stig"?

Apparently it's an open secret that the Stig is Ben Collins. -
Great start! I'm anxiously awaiting the next installment.

Great info as always Len. I appreciate the effort you're making to clarify things and to let us know how this kit can be built. My anticipation only grows for this one. -

Kit looks fantastic so far. I am absolutely stoked to be getting this one. It's been on my wish list for a long, long time. -
Where does one get lead wire?

Inappropriate forum behavior
Merkur XR4Ti replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Harry, don't be too shy about banning. The Hobby Heaven board has been wracked by stuff like this for quite some time; if there continue to be problems after a warning, whack the offenders and be done with it. I moderate a message board myself and life is too short to allow repeat idiots to ruin the board experience for the rest. I have no patience for this stuff any more. I am getting cranky in my dotage. -
1/25 Revell '72 Hurst/Olds Cutlass Kit
Merkur XR4Ti replied to W-Machine's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The Modelhaus has the wing you need. I have one and it's quite nice, as usual with everything they do. Those test shots look fantastic. I'm very excited for this kit, and the '66 Impala. -
Hmm, not up on their website yet. Hopefully it will be soon. What does the kit include? Did they do the correct dash? Any more information would be very helpful.

Model Cars on Facebook

"You are now a fan of Model Cars Magazine." Awesome! -
Sweet bike! I love those kits; I have the Rossi Valencia one with the special decal scheme on my workbench now. They build out just great.

The Stig is a Brit; I saw some clip on YouTube from a Dutch show where they looked at Top Gear and they got him to talk (while in uniform and helmet) to the camera briefly, and he's got a strong and genuine Brit accent. This is just a gag. No way would Schumacher's schedule have allowed him to do all the driving and filming necessary for the role.

1970 Cadillac Deville Convertible?
Merkur XR4Ti replied to revshag's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Looks like someone's fixin' to do a Boss Hogg Cadillac. I saw those resins on Ebay and nearly bought one. Glad I lost the auction, from what I'm reading here. -
There's a ton of pent-up demand for the '66 Impala, which hasn't been seen in stock form in forever. My hope is that that kit and the Cutlass are big enough successes that they allow Revell to tool up other kits which may be popular but might not be hugely mainstream. The Impala is a grand slam choice.

A real, plastic, '66 Impala? I am absolutely over the moon! One of my grails, and now I can get it in plastic!!! And the '72 Cutlass is just the cherry on the sundae. Unbelievably awesome.

I'm reasonably sure the interior is stock. Here's mine. I "faked" door handles by gluing small pieces of styrene strip on there and sanding them down into a very slight curved shape. They look pretty convincing from about a foot away. I wanted this thing to look as stock as possible, so I glued the trunk and doors into the body and used Aoshima wheels and tires although I like yours better RDean.

Exactly. And that's why I'm not sad Pontiac got the axe. They didn't sell anything that wasn't a rebadge of another car. Solstice = Sky G3 = Aveo G5 = Cobalt G6 = Malibu = Aura Vibe = Matrix Torrent = Equinox G8 = Aussie Holden import they were selling at a loss. What, exactly, was the point of Pontiac if they were simply selling Chevies and Saturns with new noses and orange instruments? GM is up a certain creek without a certain paddle. Saturn, Hummer, and Saab are next on the chopping block. And Opel may be sold off.

Hi guys. I've cracked the box on Revell's 1:24 '71 Plymouth GTX kit. I noticed it has an air grabber hood, but I'd rather have the hood shown on the car below: Anyone know of an aftermarket source for that hood? A quick scan of my stash didn't turn up another kit that had it. Man, in 1:24 scale this model is HUGE. It just dwarfs the AMT '71 Charger I built.

MASSCAR is a must-attend event for me every year, but I have to miss the show this year. I'll be out of town. Enjoy yourselves.

Ordered about $100 worth of supplies from Micromark (cutting mat, Polly S paint remover, sanding sticks, #11 blades, and a big paint organizer). I can't buy any more kits until I finish a few more in my stash. Boss' orders. I will, however, be easy the Polly S to redo the model of the car in my avatar.
