  1. Who did Dave at MCW sell his paint line to? I still see that I could order paints from MCW off their website.
  2. What a wonderful idea. Really well done.
  3. Looks like the bike is Marc Marquez' ride.
  4. I believe the Revell 670 was a rebox, because the 670 was issued by Italeri as well:
  5. 1970-71 Mercury Cyclone Spoiler. Given that we already have a Torino, getting this one tooled up wouldn't even cost all that much in all likelihood. 2004-2007 Jaguar XJR.
  6. I wonder which motorcycle that's going to be?
  7. Sorru to bump an old thread, but I noticed that Italeri has just reissued the VN780 kit. Does anyone know if they're going to reissue the VN670 kit as well? I'd like to build a Midland Transport rig with the Volvo tractor as I see them all over the place on the highways up here, but I've noticed that almost universally the cabs are VN670s, not 780s. I've never built a big rig model before, so forgive my total ignorance of them.
  8. I have an extra taillight lens if you need it. Thanks for the compliments, all. It took a while to get this one done as I kept getting distracted by life stuff, but I'm quite happy with the finished product. I've just started putting the vinyl roofs on cars that often had them, which is a new modeling technique for me, and I must say it's very satisfying when it turns out alright.
  9. This is a rebuild of a glue bomb I scored off that auction site. I rebuilt and painted it to match a vintage ad for the car I found online. I am starting to really enjoy building these full-sized land yachts. They look so impressive when done. Apologies for the picture quality, I just took a couple of snaps with my ancient iPhone.
  10. Thanks for all the info, guys, that's super helpful.
  11. That part I'm looking at is described as a "promo wheel set." Would that have the backs? This is for a Johan '64 Cadillac.
  12. Somewhat silly question, but when you order wheels through Modelhaus, do they come with the wheel backs? I am restoring an old Johan builtup and the model's wheel backs are cemented to the wheels so I can't separate them. It would be very convenient if the backs came with the wheels I'd like to order. Thanks.
  13. Beautiful job! I've got both those kits in the stash, yours make me want to go dig them out.
  14. Yes, but..... Underneath that area is where the front frame rails sit. You'd have to shorten them as well. Not impossible, but my modeling time is limited and my skills in cutting and filling aren't the best, so I'll leave that area alone. Also, there are end filler pieces that go into the corners of the filler panel, those would have to be altered as well if you shorten the length of the filler panel.
  15. I don't think sanding the filler panel will work: it's "hollow" underneath so you would really only be able to remove a little bit of material, which wouldn't make a big difference, and it would take a lot of effort just to get that. And the front frame rails tuck right up almost to the end of the filler panel anyway. When you get the kit, check it out and you'll see what I mean. This does mean that the body/frame fit will be quite good and tight, which I do like.
  16. I picked up my S&H kit at my local hobby shop last night. I plan on building it as the S&H car, so the body being molded in red isn't an issue for me. If this kit gets people who've been out of the hobby for years to come back and build a kit of an old memory, then molding it in red is the right choice. I suspect the vast majority of these will be built box stock anyway. As others have said, for different colors spray the body silver first and you'll have no bleedthrough issues, I've done that many times. Body looks good to me. Couple of things: I sanded the bottoms of the front fenders just a bit to give them a slight upward slant as the kit comes with them molded straight. That took 3 minutes, tops. Easy fix which helps a little with accuracy. The bumpers definitely sit too far out from the body as the filler panels are too wide. That's not an easy fix as the frame tucks in quite tightly under and into the bumper panels both front and rear. I don't think it's a huge deal, so I won't try to fix it as that would be complicated, but I can see where that would add a touch of chunkiness to the look. The rear window frame sweep looks fine to me. I don't think I'll sand it. I suspect that once the stripe is on the body any visual issues will be unnoticeable. I might try to look for another set of tires as to me the front ones look too small and thin. I'll have to fiddle with the tires and ride hide to get the look I'd like. This is a personal preference. I might put on a different Ford air cleaner as I prefer the classic air cleaner look. Personal preference, not an issue with the kit. Parts fit seems quite good to me, I think this kit is going to fall together really easily. I'm pleased with the look of the grille as well. Overall I'm very happy with the kit, and I'm thrilled to have the chance to build an iconic TV car. This will go onto the same shelf as my General Lee, Boss Hogg Caddy, Miami Vice Testarossa, and the ECTO-1.
  17. I'm waiting for an order I placed in July, but I understand they'll need time. The pieces are well worth the wait.
  18. Thanks for the pics, looks good so far. I assume the engine is supposed to be painted Ford blue?
  19. They didn't make the kit because the car was beautiful. They made the kit because the car is iconic. And given the way these things are pre-selling (apparently), they made a great choice of subject matter.
  20. Is this kit actually out in shops yet?
  21. Thanks for the pics, the kit definitely looks workable to me. I'll be picking one up ASAP.
  22. After 5 races she's 27th. There are 9 drivers behind her in the standings that have run all 5 races so far.
  23. She's at least improving this year. 40th, 36th, 21st, 18th, 14th so far. Why is it a point against her that she took some advice from a seasoned racer and improved her position? It's pretty obvious she doesn't have the amount of experience some of her fellow racers do. If she can take advice from Harvick and do better, doesn't that point to an ability to learn, process, and provide results? I have nothing agaisnt Danica and wish her well. I think she does herself a disservice with all the crass commercials, but it's her career and her choices and she has every right to put money in her bank account in the way she sees fit. I do think at some point she'll regret selling herself as an attractive woman (IMO) instead of a race car driver, but she's young and if she's going to make money on her looks now's the time to do it. That's capitalism for ya. Count me in as hoping one day she wins a race and drives her haters absolutely bonkers.
  24. That is some great work! I have a '67 Ambassador built-up I'm restoring now. A great kit.
  25. Mark Martin, as noted, weighs 130 pounds and I've never once heard anyone claim he had an advantage. Only with Danica does this kind of griping come about. Haters gonna hate. EDIT: Hah, just beaten by the comment above!
