The Wally D ride from 2000. Powerslide decals on a Revell pro-finish Taurus that was stripped and repainted. The pro-fit Taurii look better than the full glue versions, IMO, and they build up pretty much the same way.

Thanks guys, I'll get some more pics tonight

I've had this one built for a while but this is the first decent pic I've been able to take of it. This is a gorgeous kit of a gorgeous car. It practically fell together, the parts fit like a fine Swiss watch. Zero Colors Aston Martin Almond Green paint, Tamiya clear, custom mixed color for the Terra Cotta interior. I painted the middle of the seats satin dark gray to represent the suede inserts and to provide visual interest as well. I love this car, and I love this kit. Since I've yet to win Powerball I will have to content myself with the kit and not the real thing.

Kenny ran this car in the '98 (I think) Daytona 500. This was the Bud Shootout scheme, but he ran it in the 500 after wrecking his primary car in practice. Racescale decals and very tricky masking for this one.
-
This was a long time in coming. Used two of the very rare and expensive Racescale sheets to get this one done. A bucket list model for me.

I got my PIF from forthlin (MIke). Thanks!

It's too bad, I'll miss her and I wish she had been more successful. I built a Danica COT Impala not too long ago and asked my 7 year old daughter to choose the paint scheme, and then we got to talking about a woman driving a race car as if it were the most usual thing in the world. My daughter was very impressed and it got her thinking about all the stuff women can choose to do. So I hope at some point Danica comes back. In the meantime I'm going to build more of her rides.

I just got done building this, the box art shows thin whitewall tires, but the kit only has blackwalls. The box art car also shows (on the side) an air cleaner that's not included in the kit. Didn't really bother me (although whitewalls would have been nice) since I almost never open the hoods on my builds, but thought I'd mention it.

That looks really great!

Agreed, the Rebel SST was a fine looking car and a good alternative to the Machine. Trickiest part of building one would be the crossbars on the grille. Modelhaus made a flat hood for this kit and the rest of the car is pretty straightforward.
-
Looking forward to this build. I would love to build the title car from Gran Torino. Decals might be a problem, though; I don't think anyone offers the correct ones.
-
What color green would one suggest might be correct for the reissued TWR Jag? It looks like medium solid green but I'm not really sure. It could be metallic as well. It's definitely brighter than traditional British racing green.
-
I just ordered a TWR Jag from HLJ yesterday and I got the notice today they've already shipped it, so they're live now.

1967 Pontiac Bonneville. 2/20, COMPLETE!!

Great subject choice, I rescued a glue bomb one of these a while ago and they do build into impressive models. -
I built my Johan Rebel Machine with the engine from a Matador kit. It's more or less a drop in fit. I just used the kit chassis as it wasn't worth it for me to make substantial changes in that area.
-
You sir are a prince among men. You just saved me a lot of money because I might have purchased another kit for the hood. Thank you!
-
Can't wait to see this one. That kit is the only 1/24 source for that particular hood shown on the box(there's a resin one in 1/25 out there); the reissues of this car in GTX trim had the scoop hood with I don't like as much aesthetically. Love the idea of this car with the vinyl roof. Looking forward to the work!

Paul Menard 2011 Brickyard winning Impala
Merkur XR4Ti replied to Merkur XR4Ti's topic in WIP: NASCAR
Yes, the florescent yellow dries dead flat, like all florescent colors do, so I cleared it with Future and let it dry very, very thoroughly. Only after that did I mask off and paint the cowl and roof rails semi-gloss black. -
Paul Menard's winning car from the 2011 Brickyard 400. AMT COT Impala with a resin front air dam. Pactra flour. yellow paint, Patto's Place decals. I added bars to the roll cage, wired the ignition boxes and added a fuel line to the interior. The paint doesn't photo well, it's searingly bright in person.

That is stunning work. It really looks like the cars I saw as a kid in the mid-80s.

Richard Petty 1981 Dodge Mirada...the car that never run!

That looks great! What chassis is it on? -
That is really interesting and beautifully weathered! Thanks for sharing!
-
Looks like Patto's Place has them, almost as a full wrap (he does cater to slot cars, so a wrap makes some sense there).

My 6 year old daughter has built some of the Zvezda Cars kits and enjoyed them, so I'm happy Revell is getting into the game as well. I'll have to check these out for her.
