  1. Very nice detail. Ya know, when I see those MH Racemaster slicks, I think they just OOZE 60's drag racing. Love that.
  2. Watching this build is ALMOST as much fun as watching the real thing welded together in the fabricators! Nice job, looking forward to more!
  3. Looking good, Karak .I'm building that kit too Like the paint, I think the front wheels look a lot better silver.
  4. Steve, That's a great job! I had to think back for a bit to remember Don P. did campaign for someone other than Hot Wheels and Army. As much as I love Camaro's, I think some of the FC's running Pontiac's were awesome. As far as modelling goes, while someday I hope to be able to build on the calibre of some of the members here, after not building a kit in 30+ years, I'm just doing it for the simple fun (and stress relief!) of building. One of the things I enjoy most here is the friendly camaraderie, no one (well, almost no one) takes pot shots of other builders, regardless of skill level, photography, crazy builds, etc....
  5. Looking forward to seeing the next addition to your collection. Loved that black and red look!
  6. Good and timely post. I'm just getting ready to shoot color on my Titan and lowboy, and what you suggested is exactly what I am doing to lower the ride. Also am looking forward to the MUCH improved wipers and grille from Czeh Truck Modell.
  7. For my $0.02, the Mac operating system has evolved from a BSD-based (UNIX) operating system; Linux is an open-source variant of the UNIX operating system. I know there are lots of symantecs here that the Mac folks might step on my toes over, but in a nutshell this is where they come from. Plus Linux OS variants are USUALLY free!
  8. I agree! I'm going to study Jaroslav's technique, and include it on some of my builds!
  9. Interesting read. Sure is nice to read the inside scoop on some of this stuff. Thanks, Casey!
  10. Makes sense to me! Thanks for the input, Randy. Learned something today already, maybe the boss will let me go home early
  11. first off, I'll qualify my question by saying not only am I a noobie as far as truck builds (well, I built the Movin On and Watkins reefer kits 30 years ago) but for some reason when I got the bug to build again I decided to build big rigs. Haven't driven big rigs (except fire apparatus/tenders), so I don't have years crawling around in/on big rigs. I'm building the AMT/Ertl lowboy trailer, and when using both the inner and outer chrome wheel trim, there is probably a good 1/4 gap between the tires. Now I've never studied lowboy tires, but that seems odd. Should there be that big of a gap? I'm thinking of just trimming the inner rings so I can get rid of the gap. Right or wrong?
  12. I'm looking at some new tools for my workbench and was wondering how many of us use some form of this? There's a couple different manufacturers that make them, I'm curious what your experiences are?
  13. I'll be looking for updates on this, too! That Camaro is super-sweet, I hope to drop one of Mark's motors in my Impala fastback someday!
  14. I'm just starting my Titan, appreciate that note about the grille. I'm going to have to think about how I can test fit that assembly w/o completely gluing it so I can adjust that if necessary. I'd read on another post that the cab sits a bit high so I'm planning on tweaking the mounts just a bit to put it at the proper ride height.
  15. Thanks for the link! After being out of modelling 30+ years, I greedily look through any and all tutorials I can find.
  16. Awesome information, and great suggestions! I'm going to use this as the base color on the frame on both a Chevy Titan semi and a lowboy, and I'm not using the "load" that came with the lowboy. Those parts will make a great test pieces. After looking online at a few different websites, I think I'm going to shoot the paint directly on top of the gray primer, I've seen a few light color kits that came out great. Thanks again to you paint gurus!
  17. After looking and looking, I finally found THAT color that I've been searching for -- a pearl sunburst orange from a 2002 Honda VTX1800. I've looked online for rattle cans and found acrylic enamel paint (touchup) and was wondering what difference there is in prepping to use this type of paint? I'd be putting it down over Testors Model Master White Primer. Also, I've already shot Tamiya gray primer. Do any of you have any horror stories shooting the Testors primer over Tamiya? Thanks! PS Mods, my apology if I posted this in the wrong area. Feel free to move it if there is a "right" area that I overlooked!
  18. That'd be awesome! But don't know if my back will hold out carrying gear all the way to Indiana! As long as you have the "ooomph" for where you're at, it's all relative, as long as you have "THAT" tone you're looking for! 99% of the time I am playing through a PA as well, so I don't have to set my own volume louder than what I can hear (although my hearing is toast from 15 years working near 155-mil howitzers and tanks!). Only time I have ever even "semi" cranked my gear was at a good friends birthday party, he has an awesome barn that he built a stage, bar, and dance floor in for his band and his musician friends...on a dare I bumped the volume to 8 and picked an "E"...shook the place so hard it literally cleared 50 years of dust off the rafters (not anticipated or cool ) and made his disco ball fall off the ceiling after everyone gasped, they cheered and busted up laughing.
  19. Aside from trying to round up work for my business, my music is my biggest distraction. I've played bass for 30 years, and been fortunate enough to play with some pretty well known musicians. For you gearheads out there, I have 1600 watts of "headroom".
  20. I remember reading about the "Denimachine" build in Hot Rod in 75-76 (they actually covered a VAN in Hot Rod magazine...they were that popular back then).
  21. Love those old HW. I had that 36 in aqua, used to race it w/ my red Hot Heap. They used to give them out w/ a fill up at the gas station. Here's the kicker though: Do you have the badges that used to come with the cars?
  22. Gorgeous Axe! I have to admit that I spend most of my time playing tunes rather than building kits, so I can appreciate being excited bringing a new "baby" into the house. I just scored on an Ampeg preamp I'd been drooling over (before they discontinued it) and found it AND the matching power amp in a shop in FL. Enjoy and keep practicin!
  23. Thanks for sharing that, Mike. I'll take that lesson and keep it in mind and see if I can't "pay it forward" somehow myself. I appreciate the life-lesson and I'll use it as encouragement to bless someone else
  24. Duck was one of my favorite bass players, and "Sweet Home Chicago" still ranks as possibly the funnest bass line to comp of any song I've heard. RIP, Duck, and thanks for all the wonderful chops.
  25. Glad to hear she is on the mend. With that amount of blockage exercise and diet will do the trick. Glad to hear the news is good!
