  1. I went to every Wally World in my area, and none had the Merc kit. I did find the new Revell 65 chevelle kit, though.
  2. Out of curiosity, when did Dupont acquire Nason. They were owned by Fuller Paints origionaly, and i used their primer on 1/1 for at least 20 years. The red oxide was the best primer made at the time.
  3. Fix It Again Tony!
  4. Also, remember that when using urethane paints that even after the vapors and overspray are evacuated, it will still be releasing isocyannates into the air until the paint is completely cured.you don't want this stuff floating around inside your house.
  5. If you are worried about urethane clear separating from lacquer, spray a light coat of Dupont 222 adhesion promoter on it and your clear will never come off. I've used it for years and works with all kinds of paint.

  8. I went to Sportsmans Warehouse today and in the fly fishing section i found a bunch of stuff for detailing. They have braided mylar tubing that looks like braided steel hose. It comes in a couple of sizes and comes in a zip loc bag to boot. The cost was $1.09 for about 18 inches.

  12. You did a great job on these, especially the mangled Impala windshield posts.
  13. Mark, you heard right. In the lacquer days, before modern flatting compounds, we used talcum powder to flatten lacquer and enamel paints.Don't know how durability in modern paints would be affected, but i might just try and find out.By the way, early plastic filler(bondo) was simply talcum powder and fiberglass resin.Thank God for modern technology, as modern fillers are very, very good in comparison.
  14. Nitro Stan is a lacquer based spot putty that has been around for decades. Originally it had lead in it and when dry, DID NOT shrink or move around. At the time it was the best on the market. Haven't seen a tube of that stuff in a long time.
  15. Big Al and Quad Al wound up in the collection of Tex Collins, aka the wrangler on the tv series Rawhide. I was involved with him in the early seventies, making fiberglass t bucket bodies for him, just before he got his head blown off. Don't know what happened to the cars after that. Anyone know?
  16. Are they going to do a Bruno Haupman reissue also? seems only right. Welcome Robert.
  17. It's strange, but sometimes it comes up and sometimes it doesn't. Had to go back to it a few times and then it appeared. thanks.

  23. Where did you find krylon dull aluminum? I used that stuff extensively on 1/1 show cars for detailing small brackets and other things. Haven't seen a can in a couple of years, at least.
  24. Does anyone know if Alclad can be used over any black base or does it have to be Alclad black? Also can it be brushed on small parts? The valve covers on my T bucket project has lost its chrome with age and they ain't going to come off easily(the kit is 15 yrs old). Thanks in advance.
