  1. Some banks simply refuse login attempts from any IP address they don't have on file, and in the event you need to access accounts from an "alien" machine, require an annoyingly complex (but worthwhile and just about impossible to crack) multi-step authentication process.
  2. "LOOK AT MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE !!!!!!!!!!!" is the predominant message of a high percentage of social media posts.
  3. This is good advice. Insurers are raising rates on EVs because of their non-economically-viable-repairability after even light crashes. https://www.claimsjournal.com/news/national/2024/12/09/327691.htm Parking garages are beginning to ban them because of the propensity to catch fire. Sure, ICs will burn too, but they don't spontaneously ignite. Call your insurance provider ASAP, because if your policy doesn't SPECIFICALLY cover this unfortunate circumstance, you're not covered, period. And don't take some mumbled generalities from an agent, either. GET THE COVERAGE DEFINED AND EXPLAINED IN WRITING.
  4. Lost keys, tools, and pretty much everything else small almost always turn out to be exactly where I put them.
  5. Lotsa truth right there. And the push in the engineering community to go straight from simulation to production with no physical prototyping and testing phase will only make things worse.
  6. Audience ratings don't mean much when so many don't seem to be able to follow a plot.
  7. "Spoken, not stirred"...no, that can't be right.
  8. Guitar strings aren't what g-strings means.
  9. Double your pleasure; marry identical twins.
  10. Gin labeled Bombay Sapphire is probably my favorite, but there's nothing wrong with old standby Tanqueray either, especially in a Martini with olives.
  11. My first gut reaction was early '50s Ford, but nope. Further research pulled up what looks like a match for '53-'54 Chevy Bel Air...though it's apparently the general layout of all the '53-'54 Chebbys, which would make sense.
  12. Late '60s early '70s big FoMoCo. I got a match for a '70 Mercury Marquis. The column and a few details (the PRNDL surround for one) are different from the '69.
  13. Though the names have been changed to protect the innocent, I suspect this is part of the previously unreleased backstory of Sarah-n-Tuned's penguin sidekick.
  14. So far same-old same-old...but nothing worth complaining about.
  15. The pushbutton shifter quadrant can pretty much only be high-end early '60s Mopar. I found a matching image that says it's a '61 Imperial, though '62 and '63 seem to be very similar. The '63 wheel is different.
  16. Studebaker Avanti. Studebaker used gauges supplied by Stewart Warner in several car lines. I prefer the engine-turned fascia of the older Hawks.
  17. Side with people who share your values, or if you're a sheep, change your values to go along with the crowd.
  18. Merrilly merrilly merrilly merrilly, life is but a dream...so row your boat.
  19. Is that the reason...oh, never mind.
  20. Sequels and prequels and remakes, oh my; sequels and prequels and remakes, oh my...
  21. Choose wisely your significant other, because the wrong one can make your life a living nightmare.
  22. Another smokin' hot deal...15 HO scale Proto 2000 freight car kits for less than $6 each. These normally go for between about $25, delivered, to over $50...each. I needed several "drop end mill gondolas" for the steel mill, and the eight in this lot ought to do it. The covered hoppers are perfect for limestone delivery to the mill, and there's always a need for boxcars everywhere. These kits are very very nice, definitely "foreground" material, and would be skill level 5 if they were car models because of the intricate detail and fragile parts. Today's other score was a vintage NOS Walthers HO scale Santa Fe work train #2 multi-kit, sealed inside, consisting of 6 cars including a 25-ton crane. These go for about $100 to over $200 (delivered) if you can find one, though I paid a small fraction of that. I'd recently acquired a NOS silver SF MOW bunk car too, so I have a pretty complete work train to sit on a siding, along with a couple of snow plows, bigger cranes, and fire cars waiting for trouble. Other items in the lot are a sadly incomplete AHM 1/38 model of the Trevithick 1804 steam loco, and a nice little NOS Berkshire Valley HO white metal track speeder/tool trailer kit, complete.
  23. Online banking and banking by phone (mobile banking) aren't the same thing, and it's an important distinction.
  24. It always seems I rarely get around to most of the projects I'd really like to do.
