  1. States of mind have profound effects on one's ability to accomplish anything, or hold a job, or keep a relationship together.
  2. Seein' as how R2 already has pretty OK tooling for the 5W, it would make much more sense for them to either do a corrected 2dr sedan shell to fit the existing 5W fenders and hood, and/or do a 3W coupe likewise. Revell's obvious slam-dunk to get more mileage from their recent model A kits with the '32 rails would be to tool a '26-'27 roadster body shell, as that's always been and still is a very popular combo for traditional rods.
  3. Ummm...no. The proportion and line discrepancies between a stocker and the kit are screamingly obvious to me. A lot of folks in and around this hobby seem to have some difficulty comparing and contrasting...but Mr. Gaffney may also have said what he said to avoid p-ing off an advertiser in the mag by being critical of the kit. Those things happen in the real world.
  4. Interesting thing about scanning to reverse-engineer long gone kits...where resin archival copies (or at least stable copies) of long-ago warped-beyond-recognition or crumbled-to-dust acetate promos exist, even those could be brought back in styrene. I've paid what many would consider insane money to acquire a few Modelhaus resin models of promo subjects that haven't been available for decades, and if they were available as styrene repops, I'd buy multiples. But again, the target demographic that would buy models of cars from the 1950s is shrinking daily, so it's time to get on the stick if it's going to happen.
  5. Interesting project. I've often wondered about the quality of that Flintstone unit, so I'm doubly interested in your progress.
  6. "Idiot" once was a clinical classification of psychological/mental development, being the lowest rung on the ladder, below imbecile, and then moron; the terms today are, for the most part, conversationally interchangeable, and sure to be found offensive by some of the thin-skinned among us.
  7. Currently, the Danbury version is going to be in the $68 + shipping range, minimum. If you don't need the opening features and great detail like plug wires, wipers, working steering, etc., there's an AutoWorld version in 1/24 for about $46 + shipping on ePay.
  8. Older people, if they have sufficient intelligence and pay attention, can benefit from their life experiences in myriad ways, and if they're really on top of things, possibly gain some wisdom.
  9. Beautifully done. Reminds me of a somewhat similar story on the outskirts of Prague many long time ago.
  10. HOT ROD Mag obit and links to other Ganahl stuff: https://www.motortrend.com/news/pat-ganahl-obit/:
  11. Engine, smengine: the powers that be want 'em dumped in the sea; it's motors, electric motors to power zis generation of voters.
  12. Great project, coming together very nicely.
  13. Wilson (and other) tennis balls make great temporary plugs for Hilborn-style fuel injection stacks.
  14. What, no Dorkotron 500? Not to be confused with the Dork-O-Matic 1000, which was very similar but entirely different. When the manufacturers merged, they brought out the DorkMatic 2000, a brilliant melding of the two previously competing machines, vastly simplified, yet encompassing more features. Vintage and reproduction Dork products are highly prized today, though the underlying technology is largely misunderstood. Still, they can be found employed in almost every field of human endeavor, a testament to the universality and timelessness of their design.
  15. Seasons come, seasons go, but stupid is forever.
  16. "Be de be de be de be de be be be" said the little, not too bright robot.
  17. Sorry I didn't mention it. Danbury Mint, 1/24.
  18. Dry humor won't leave stains on your shirt.
  19. Your setup is the best homebuilt I've seen to date. Simple, obviously very effective and doing exactly what it needs to do, and cheap.
  20. Quatrains run every 15 minutes, right?
  21. Last time I looked, these Danbury '57 Dodge Sweptside pickups were a little more than I wanted to pay for a truck that wasn't real high on my desire list, but I found this one for less than they usually go for. Perfect model, ratty box, suits me fine as they'll be displayed until I'm dust, and somebody else can worry about their "collector value". EDIT: Sure wish I'd known how nice the Danbury Mint line was when they were still in production...and a whole lot cheaper.
  22. Evidently Idiocracy was prescient prognostication worthy of Nostradamus.
  23. Services will be held tomorrow for the last damm I gave about much of anything.
