hobby lobby coupon at michaels
jamesG replied to jamesG's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It was all news to me as I don't usually bother with such things(I will more often now). Sadly. There is a hobby shop next door to hobby lobby. I would rather do business there but they only have 4a or 5a auto kits the rest is milita ry trains and r.c -
did this one a few years ago out of the box build first time polishing paint. wood grain highlited with furniture touchup crayon.

I went to michaels yesterday to get a few things for my next build and saw a 32 ford sedan I thought would make for a cool rat rod but at 27 bucks I passed. I got some necklace chain $3.00 and a piece of velvet scrapbooking paper $2.00 and headed for the checkout. while standing in line the woman behind me asks if I have a coupon, Itell her no and she says "you do now" and hands me a piece of paper. I look at it and it was a hobby lobby 40% off coupon. I politely told her it was for the wrong store and she told me it would work. I thanked her went back and got the 32 ford and got back in line. I handed the casheer the coupon and got all three items for 25 bucks. on my way to the car I thanked the woman for the coupon again. I guess michaels will do anything to stay alive.

Some people are nuts !
jamesG replied to cobraman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
"some people are nuts!" I resemble that remark. 50 bucks for a set wheels and tires better come hand delivered by jessica alba. -
is there an echo in here? one problem with nitrile though, is that they tend to fill with sweat, makes a nice splash when you take them off and your hand looks like a prune. How about those cotton gloves with the rubber dots or the ones with the whole palm diped in rubber?
-
you can get a box of nitrile gloves at harbour freight for around ten bucks.

practice, practice, practice. get some cheap plastic signs( like for sale signs or something similar) shoot some primer on it then practice your technique. it can also be helpful to intentionaly mess up on your practice pieces. move your can or airbrush too close or too far, speed up or slow down your hand movement, spray some wd40 or other oil part of your practice piece then try to paint over it etc. buy doing this you will learn what causes paint problems and what you need to do to correct them. be aware that all can spray paints are not the same model master laquers for example come out of the can like a firehose so you'll have to change your hand speed always test on a scrap piece before your model. hope this helps.

coyote launches misiles, accelerater sticks, passes misiles, runs out of gas,oh dang look on coyotes face, sign that says s.n.a.f.u., BOOM.

the air brush will give you thiner coats which will help reduce the seperation line. try to get the red as close as you can to the color you want as possible too reduce the number of coats needed to get your final hue if you put on ten coats of red and only two black you're gonna have a line. let us know how it comes out.

don't know what you were looking for but cool pics. what is it? -
flocking and embossing powder can be found at hobby lobby or michaels in the scrapbooking section, foil at hobby store, 30 gauge wrapping wire for dist. at radio shack, also check out the beading wire at hobby lobby it comes in lots of cool colors.

you and I seem to be about equals as I too have always built o.t.b. just do what I do add a new technique with each new project. If you don't get something right try again on the next one eventualy you'll get the hang of it. Igot my flocking down pretty good and tried bare metal foil but still need to work on that one. next up is wiring an engine though I may not do that one too much. all in good time.
