1950's Car Test
darquewanderer replied to Ramfins59's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
98% 47 out of 48. Only because I rushed at the end and counted the Kaiser twice. -
I don't know if this one will be edited or cut. It's all in fun guys. A preacher wanted to raise money for his church and on being told that there was a fortune in horse-racing, decided to purchase one and enter it in the races. However, at the local auction, the going price for a horse was so high that he ended up buying a donkey instead. He figured that since he had it, he might as well go ahead and enter it in the races. To his surprise, the donkey came in third. The next day the local paper carried this headline: PREACHER'S ASS SHOWS The preacher was so pleased with the donkey that he entered it in the race again and this time it won. The paper read: PREACHER'S ASS OUT FRONT The Bishop was so upset with this kind of publicity that he ordered the preacher not to enter the donkey in another race. The paper headline read: BISHOP SCRATCHES PREACHER'S ASS This was too much for the bishop, so he ordered the preacher to get rid of the donkey. The preacher decided to give it to a nun in a nearby convent. The paper headline the next day read: NUN HAS BEST ASS IN TOWN The bishop fainted. He informed the nun that she would have to get rid of the donkey, so she sold it to a farmer for ten dollars. The next day the paper read: NUN SELLS ASS FOR $10.00 This was too much for the bishop, so he ordered the nun to buy back the donkey and lead it to the plains where it could run wild. The next day the headlines read: NUN ANNOUNCES HER ASS IS WILD AND FREE The bishop was buried the next day.

STACY DAVID/REVELL MODEL KITS CHAMPIONSHIPS
darquewanderer replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Contests and Shows
Two Vipers and a Challenger. Not much to go with. Oh and the Ram VTS. Still not much. Where are the older kits/cars? -
Still trying to find the November issue. No December issue yet.

I remember getting on of the when they were new. Painted yellow and white. Wish I still had it. I;ll be watching this one.
-
This is, what, the third Volare I've seen since joining this board in Feb. 2007? I'll be watching.

Since the 300c is based on the '55 c300, this is what it should have looked like. Just glad Plymouth didn't do the front bumper like you did on the blue '72 Road Runner. Hate it! My first car was a '71 Satellite and I for one like the factory bumper design.

Posted videos?
darquewanderer replied to Jantrix's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The way I see it, posting a link in the general section to a humorous (short) video... no problem. I can decide whether or not to watch. Unless someone has the experience to produce one properly, like Dr. Cranky, don't post it. Watching videos of some builds is almost as bad as watching paint dry*. If someone does decide to post one, keep it in the signature line and continue to post stills of the build. Clear, crisp pictures are the best way to go. *In most cases, I'd rather be watching the paint dry. -

Beautiful model Jean-Jacques.

Beautiful. Love those early Darts and Valiants. Early as in before '70.

1/24 Franklin Mint 1934 Chrysler Airflow coupe

This looks like an interesting build. I'll keep an eye on it. And the Flintstone Rareflow might as well be as a paperweight. It's a solid brick. -

What? No Lord Quetzalcoatl? What kind of the end of the word was it? -

What's the story behind your user name/avatar?
darquewanderer replied to JollySipper's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
It's not a pretty story. My handle has evolved over the years to match my moods and situations. I originally went by moparmaniac here, but getting fired and blacklisted from my last job after a heart attack and having lost two appeals to the state civil rights commission, my mood darkened. In the meantime, I moved from frozen Iowa to warm and sunny Florida, took my disabled brother into my home. After a couple of years of living by his ego, my mood turned darker yet and taking all I could stand, I threw him out. Somewhere in all that mess, I changed to darquewanderer to better match my ever darking mood. It helped me, in part, cope with the situation. A '71 Satellite was my first car, so that's that, but lately I've been changing most of my avatars to a Marine Corps shield after I got notified by the VA earlier this year that I'm now 180% disabled (only get 100% though... drat). But being at a straight 100%, I can never hold down another job per VA regulations. So I'll keep darquewanderer for a while.Besides changing it to "CaptainSunshine", or some such, just isn't me. p.s. I'm going to appeal the buyout of the civil right commission by my former employer to the state grand jury early this coming year. And my brother has his own place now (finally!!!). We're both much, much happier. -
ROCKET VAN! Deals Wheels Flying VW Van. WIP 11-30-12

Fantastic build Ira. Just fantastic. -
I've bought several of the corkscrew bulbs. Advertising a five to seven year life... Only problem is the ones I've gotten haven't lasted a full three years. And the last one to fail tried to burn down the table lamp as it flickered out for the last time. They are cheaper power usage wise, but... And come, IIRC, 2014, incandescents will no longer be available for sale in the US of A.
