New Phone Humor
darquewanderer replied to Mercman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
At one time my brother had a land line modem. It was only for the computer, but he had a phone connected to occasionally check the line. When ever he'd get a call on that line he'd answer with the local radio station's call letters, he'd say "This is K### and our topic for today is sex and the single girl. What are your thoughts caller?" Everyone hung up on that. No repeat calls. LOL Later my parents got a new number in a new town. It formally was for a bail bondsman. After weeks of trying to explain to the callers, calling at all times of the night, that it was no longer belonged to a bail bondsman and trying to get the bondsman himself to make it known to the public, my father started answering late night calls with a prerecorded message, "I'm sorry this number has been changed due to the bondsman being inprisioned for bail fraud. If you still wish to contact him please call ***-**** ex*** (Jail number and extension)." The calls stopped within two or three weeks. He was fortunate the bondsman never heard of this. LOL -
STAR FIRE! ...( 59 Impala Flying Car) Update: 3-29-12
darquewanderer replied to Ira's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Been watching this one mostly in the background. Love what's happening with it. Ever since I read the article on Juha Airio's Jetrolet Anti-Gravity car, I've been wanting to build one. Maybe, just maybe... someday I will. -
The "ANYONE-CAN-POLISH-A-DIECAST" story - part II
darquewanderer replied to mrm's topic in Model Cars
mrm, Beautiful. Period. As a builder of one when I get the chance and a collector of the other, you've given me some evil ideas. I'm looking forward to the next two builds. Just one question... What brand of polish did you use? I want a case of it! -

Modellpularn, That would be Scale Auto Enthusiast issue 114, April 1998. Juha Airio's Jetrolet Anti-Gravity car. Great build Ira. Watching. -
That one just screams build me, build me.
-
Me too. The styling just screams bubble top.

You can find more of this one in Syd Mead's "Sentinel (I)". It was a design concept for Alcoa Aluminum as a possible project car to show off their products. i.e. aluminum. The car, The Inovari (IIRC) was to be built by??? utilizing only aluminum frame and body panels. Unfortunately it never got past the design stage, but was featured in of of Alcoa's company pamphlets back then. Al, here's the English translated site. http://www.carstyling.ru/en/

Excellent build. I remember "TV" Tommy Ivo's car, but not this one. I'll check it out in the Under Glass section. Well done, well done. -

Oh, I am so looking forward to this one being finished. -
Very interesting project. Twin engines and I love that scratchbuilt frame. Can't go wrong with that. Reminds me a little, OK, a lot of Gary Campesi's design. http://garycampesi.deviantart.com/art/CorvaiRod-front-189427405 I'll be watching this one.

Got one of those Flintstone resins sitting in my stash. I'll have to dig it out now. Coming along nicely. -
After a slew of 300/Magnum wagons, are you going to start a new trend? I've thought of one myself, but I think I'll watch this one for now. Have you given any thought to doing it retro? Wood paneling and such?

I've built many a Jo-Han Chrysler in my days, but not this one. Wasn't a fan of the '63-66 Chryslers back then. But if I had one now thought, I'd build it. I'm watching this one.

Don't see too many buildups on the old '41. Glad to see this one. The grille treatment is great. As is the color. Looking forward to seeing this one through.
