What a truely awesome idea Jim. A nice tribute to a toy that brought a lot of joy to, I'm sure, most of us. I think that I was about 12 when these hit the market. If my mind serves me correctly they were about .69 cents. Cheaper, and a lot cooler, then Matchbox My very first one was that Cougar! You've done a great job of replicating that memory! Thanks!!!

Bob...just the fact that you took such "pains" to bring this "puppy" back to life is a true testament to your patience. Let alone the fact that many of us cut our teeth on models such as these. Many of mine went the way of the infamous "cherry-bomb" and the always popular "hamerhead"...whatever happened to those ol' stand bys? Anyway. It may not win first place at any contest, but you must feel proud for getting it to where it is. Nice work!

This came out beautiful. Nice work Roger.

Yordan, This little diorama is absolutely stunning. You have managaged to duplicate, in miniature, what I struggled with for years in the 1/4" model railroad genre. One of the reasons that I left that hobby. I built a 1:25 scale garage diorama that took amost a year. It's burried somewhere in this forum. So when I sold all of my railroad kits, and such. My wife was a bit disapointed and said, "What are you doing". I pointed out how long it took to do the garage, and that to finish a room sized layout would take an extra lifetime. Plus I'm not bad on duplicating what man has created, but to re-create what God has created...not so much! You've done a fantastic job! And thanks for giving me some info. I've already gone over to the "Green Stuff" web-site. Love those leaves!

Beautiful! The wheel covers are great! Sad to say...I remember these as nine year old kid.

Revell 1930 Ford Coupe
Grumpa replied to Grumpa's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Casey, Craig,...thanks for your replies. I'm going to toss a lot from what is in the kit anyway, but what I was curious about was how the body and interior went together. Not a big deal...I've kit-bashed and rescued enough models over the years to figure it out. -
Hey Guys, Any chance that one of you could scan a set of the instructions for the Revell 1930 Ford model A coupe and email them to me. Let me know. Thanks, Grumpa

WOW! What a collection of "Rods". All of them are great. What's really cool is seeing them all in one thread! Great idea! I haven't posted anything in some time, but I thought that I would put this one up from a few years ago.

What "mistakes" Chris? Nicely done...and welcome to the "addiction"!

Too cool for words Chuck.

Thanks "unclescott58" Went down to O'Rielly's yesterday afternoon, and a really nice young kid named Danny pulled out an old, and I do mean 'big" old loose leaf binder with all of DuPont's old color chips and codes. In fifteen minutes I had a large spray can of "mayfair-maize". Now I can get that glue bomb '68 GTO from Ebay done!

OK....So I'm 63....I don't care! Here are some of my families favorite nicknames for me. "Grumpa" (a derivative of "Grumpy"), "Old A**", "Old Fart", "Old Man",....you do see the common thread here....don't you? But here is my favorite "Peter Pan".....this one from my loving wife of almost 40 years. I have three Granddaughters, and I have built two snap kits with the oldest. I doubt that she will pick-up the hobby, but it was fun! I got started at around five or six, and have built model trains, boats, airplanes, doll houses, and my really true love....cars! So is this hobby graying out? More than likely. I have a closet full of models for my retirement (HA! I think that Cale needs to become my best friend...or at least attend the "yard sale" after I'm gone). Last week my son and I attended "Hot Nights, Cool Cars" up in Pilot Mountain, NC. I don't own a cool car. Unless you consider a Buick Enclave cool. Although I do make believe that it's something out of the pages of "Ol Skool Rodz" (just an unabashed shout-out to a pretty cool mag.). Anyway. On the way home I swung by "King Hobbies" in King NC. to pickup a few things. Only to get to the front door and read, "STORE CLOSED - we want to thank all of our loyal customers for supporting us all these years - The Management". So in memory of "Queen"..."Another one bights the dust...hey, hey". I guess that the only hobby shop left for me now is the internet. Whoopie! So there you have it. There is no "Instant gratification" in building a model. It takes time to do, and lord knows you have to be able to deal with frustration...Oh...and "Bare Metal Foil"...let's not forget that. So to all of us who can relate to the aforementioned "nick-names"....model on!

Beautifully done Chuck! Awesome paint and foil work!

Thanks for the help Guys. I've looked at the Phoenician yellow and I think that is as close as I'm going to get. Thanks Steve.

You never cease to amaze...or disapoint John! -
Mornin", Anybody out there with a suggestion for a "rattle" can paint that's close to Pontiac's "Mayfair Maize"?
-
Beautiful build Bruce. I love the exterior / interior color combo. That blue really sets off the interior. Nice choice on the wide whites!
-
Another beautiful job John! The paint is incredible! Thanks for the inspiration to improve!
-
WOW! You really "knocked it out of the park" with the color Jim! One of the best ones I've seen. The wheel and tire choice ain't to bad either! Nice!
-
Nice save Anthony! I had one of these, red with a 350, back in '77 - '78. Great car until I ran it into a lower parking garage building support. Sure wish I had it now! Oh well....youth is wasted on the young!
-
Way "COOL" looking custom Phil! Looks like it came right off the pages of "Rod & Kulture" magazine. Very..very nice!

Very nice save Steve! I love the yellow pearl color! Nice choice!
