  1. About two weeks ago I bought a kit off of ebay through a buy it now auction, there were a couple available but I only got one. A few days later the kit showed up as planned, everything was good so I left positive feedback and recieved the same. A few days later another identical kit showed up with the print out from the same sale as the last kit. I messaged the seller telling them they had accidentally sent me a second kit but that I had not opened it and work with them to return it and to please contact me. That was a week ago, I haven't heard anything from the seller at all. How much obligation am I under to return this kit? I don't want to eat the shipping cost as it's not my fault that it was sent here and I haven't been able to establish contact with the seller again. It's not a valuable kit, if the seller was to send me the shipping to send it back he would only clear about five bucks on it when it sells so he may be just washing his hands of it.
  2. If the fenders are seperate from the body it looks like it would be very easy to make a 40 Deluxe Coupe and a standard convertible.
  3. I want to build some semi pullers as well, I want to put a KTA 600 in it and a few turbos.
  4. The AMT kit has the exhaust molded to the chassis, metal axles complete with holes through the engines, it has an optional Buick nailhead motor, very soft interior detailing, very dated custom parts, and just general oldness. It's not a bad kit but such a popular subject deserved a new tooling. It's a shame the didn't give you the option if which grill to use, I'm not a fan of the 39 grill. Both kits are 1/25, I haven't had the Revell kit in my hands yet but it should be up to their current standards of goodness.
  5. Do you have a problem with your wisdom teeth? If there isn't anything wrong with them and they are coming in okay there isn't a medical need remove them. The supposed need to remove all wisdom teeth is a falsehood perpetrated on the American public by the dental establishment, bilking families and insurance companies for millions every year.
  6. If it has ignition wire and photoetch it's most likely a reissue of their 57 from the late ninties. It was the first of their new style kits with seperate frame and floor pan and such. It's a good build but I seem to remember some slight controversy over the shape of the body. It looks great to me.
  7. Putting a protective coat of flat clear will darken it and make it safe to touch.
  8. Have you seen the Testors one coat paints, they have a fiery orange and a flaming orange that might get you better results.
  9. Thats really neat, whoever did that has a good feel for time lapse photography. I can't help but wonder, thought, how fast he could have finished without taking all those pictures.
  10. Duplicolor paint does this to me no matter how I have prepped or not prepped the body, no matter what brand the kit it.
  11. I found some more pics of an earlier iteration of this car. And a few more: http://www.viperalley.com/forum/srt-8-discussions/76826-new-2020-dodge-charger.html
  12. Bangshift is why I built the 4-53 in the rat rod wrecker I will finish one day I swear. This is one of the best sounds ever! http://bangshift.com/blog/the-parting-shift-ripping-twin-sticks-with-a-screaming-4-53t-detroit-diesel-up-front.html
  13. Alan Raab casts the wheels and tires from the Orange Blossom Special truck, the guys above used Hotwheels Monster Jam trucks for tires. OBS tire and wheel Here is a link to Alan's Fotki album, http://public.fotki.com/cnaind/
  14. I think half bras are my favorite kind as well.
  15. It looks like it might be time to teach your son another valuable model building lesson, sometimes you have to buy a second one to finish the first one. If you print out a Hobby Lobby 40% off coupon you can pick up this kit for somewhere in the mid teens, giving valuable lesson #3, being cheap.
  16. On the matter of copyrights, if a company fails to defend it's copyrighted materials over a given time it begins to be considered public domain. A local radio host began having a charity motorcycle ride to benefit Make a Wish and he called it "ride for the kids". After a few years another organization contacted him saying that they had been using and are the copyright holder of the phrase "ride for kids" and that his was too close to theirs. He had to change the name of his ride to not infringe on an existing copyright, the other organization said they didn't mean any harm and knew he was doing good work but that if they didn't make him stop using it that later if someone used it as a scam or something they wouldn't have a right to stop them since they hadn't defended their copyright against him. About casting though, think about all of the companies that make parts for real cars, even body parts and they don't own the copyright. The car companies don't go after people so often that they may only have any standing if their logo is used. Look at comercials and movies, how many times to they black out the logos but are free to use the actual car.
  17. No one is bashing you, but the tone you started the thread with makes it sound like the seller is a jerk but when all the facts are in it's more a case of buyer error. The $42 shipping is the cheapest delivery option that has international delivery confirmation, thus protecting the seller and complying with Paypals requirement of delivery confirmation for insurance on the sale. Yes, you can get it there cheaper but the seller is protecting himself by insisting on delivery confirmation all the way to your door.
  18. If you got delivery confirmation and still have your tracking slip you could track it yourself and see of it shows that it is in transit.
  19. You can ship with no tracking to Canada with USPS for around ten to twelve dollars, I shipped three packages in the last few months and this was the range for all of them. If you want international tracking USPS charges $40 for it regardless of the size of the box. As far as the auction goes it does state US only, a lot of small sellers have problems shipping out of the country since tracking is prohibitively expensive all the buyer has to do in claim they didn't get the package and they walk away with the kit and their money.
  20. I didn't know they had released it as just a stock Daytona, still useful but not what I was hoping for.
  21. It's shame they got the shipping label, you could have just boxed up some empty sprue and sent it back to him if you had the label.
  22. Maybe the bad luck will transfer to whomever has the kit, its cursed.
  23. I think the drag verion always has, I think the street rod version has always had a chrome grill.
  24. The Promodeler kit had a 440 and 426 engine and parts for a stock car version.
