  1. Sean Stacey here casts the 429 from the Revell Torino, it comes with a four speed. I have some and they are very good.
  2. The tires are from the Orange Blossom Special kit from the eighties. The best way to get them now is from a resin caster, I think Alan Raab at Ma's Resin makes them. Those headers look to be custom made but you can find ones like them in the MPC El Camino monster truck and the Mad Mudder pulling Blazer, again, those kits are hard to find so looking for a resin set is probably your best bet.
  3. Where did you get the 1693? I'd like to have one.
  4. A lot of that comes from using the same tires for every kit they make for twenty or thirty years at a time.
  5. You beat me to it, Kale's has the best stuff in the business. (I knew Kale years ago when we used to build trucks for computer games.)
  6. Since resin is one of those things where, unless you buy in person, you don't know exactly what you're going to get until it gets to your house I wanted to review one of my recent purchases. For some upcoming projects I needed some big power and it doesn't get much bigger than the KTA-600. I had seen the pics on the P&P site but was still surprised when I opened the package, these parts are clean! A few of the larger parts like the block halves are separate pieces and all of the smaller parts are cast to a thin sheet of resin, like sheet of paper thin, no sanding off huge casting plugs here. There is more flash on the AMT semi reissues than this engine, it is truly amazing. There are very fine details on the block like casting lands for bolts and all of the accessory bolt heads are there. This is a nice piece, if you need big power for a seventies or eighthties semi it doesn't get any better. Here is pic of how my kit arrived, I would have taken more but my camera doesn't do it justice.
  7. I have stared at these pictures until my eyes crossed and the only thing I'm seeing is that the rear of the wheel well where it comes back to the drip rail is slightly concave on the model where it's straight to slightly convex on the actual car. If thats all it is I can't see myself losing a ton of sleep over it.
  8. It is, I was posting what the diecast should look like. The Petty car and the black car you posted are the body style used from 77 to 79, the diecast and the green car are 80 to 85 models.
  9. Will you be using cans or an air brush?
  10. Here is a pic of the real car to compare. Someone made a resin caprice body, it might be easier to start with that.
  11. Wow, that diecast is so wrong. I had an early 80s Caprice and that thing is OFF! The roof it too tall and the trunk and hood slope too much. You have your work cut out for you on this one to back date it to the seventies style two door.
  12. I think most of the problems with warping in the Generals kits was the packaging for the last reissue. If they would pack them like they have the recent kits it should be much better.
  13. You might could use rafia, they sell it in bags at most craft stores for cheap. You could cut it into short lengths and stack it for square bales or wrap it for rolled bales.
  14. No problem, a lot of people don't realize that the Charger was a B body also and shared platforms with the Road Runner, GTX, Belvedere, Coronet, etc. I think since it was only offered in a two door body and it doesn't share any sheet metal people think it was a stand alone platform.
  15. It's close, all of the the B body mopars got updated for 71-74 but nothing changed enough that anyone but a mopar expert will notice it. If you have the newer AMT 71 Charger it would be the ideal choice but again the chassis were so similar I doubt anyone could spot the difference.
  16. Wow, much better! The second time nailed it.
  17. Why don't you send the model fairy my way?
  18. Or stop buying them so the companies get the message that we want new toolings of ancient kits.
  19. Gee, that looks terrifying.
  20. Why are you trying to cobble together a workable setup? You can get a workable oiless pancake compressor from Harbor Freight for around $50. Just put on a regulator, filter, and water separator and you will be good to go, you will still need all of that stuff with the other setup anyway.
  21. The Topkicks never used the 99+ GM body that the Revell kit is based off of. You will have some issues getting the interior to fit the cab but I don't know how close the DG parts are to the AMT kit so it could be a fight either way. You could use the newer interior and just try to trade for a bed here to match the body, since it's a custom you have a lot of options.
  22. Looks good, the chrome on mine was messed up too.
