Barracuda....Back from the dead
Lovefordgalaxie replied to SfanGoch's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If I cared about what new cars can do, I would own one. I don't give a shait about what people do want from cars now. Couldn't care less. I don't even have friends that are not car guys. The conversation is not worth it. -
Barracuda....Back from the dead
Lovefordgalaxie replied to SfanGoch's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'll be honest with you, I don't know why I opened this thread, but I think I had slight hope to see what Fiat would do to the Barracuda. The fact is: I drive a 41 year old car, a 1974 Ford Galaxie 500 manufactured in Brasil, and the car is a 1966 U.S. Galaxie for all that matters, even for buying parts online. She has a 292 Y-Block V8, a four barrel Autolite carburetor, a frame, points, condenser, four bias ply Wide Oval tires, cool dog dishes all around, and it's a car that can be trusted to never let you down. If something do happen, like a miss, or another little problem, you can solve it with your home tools, and maybe a new set of points. I don't look at new cars sites, I don't read new cars magazines, I don't watch TV shows related to new cars, I don't pay attention to them on the street. I just know I have two tons of car on my garage, that will fire up, and drive me to the place I want to go. She even has power steering, power brakes and air conditioning from the factory. What else do I need? Nothing. -
Lee, your engine is looking great. You have to fix the air cleaner tough. That air intake hole on it faces the inner fender, and not the hood. The way it is you may have clearence problems under the hood. Easy fix tough. Another detail, that you didn't show yet, but it's wrong even on the box art model. The gravel shield or splash pan behind the front bumper is not body color, it's argent (flat aluminum). The engine on my supercharged Custom Tudor is not as detailed as yours, but the air cleaner is on the position it is on 1:1 cars. 1957 Ford Custom Tudor Inca Gold by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr The splash pan: 1957 Ford Custom Tudor by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr

Already started on a '53 Ford truck!!! The rusty taste of Mopar is hard to get rid off

Guys, thanks again, love your feedback!!! You are right Harry, that seams do look toy-ish. I thank you for not noticing the car has no mirrors. Seriously, I never thought much of those seams, always accepted them as "characteristics" of the old AMT chrome parts, but will try to get rid of them and see how it goes. Stay tuned on this same Bat-Thread on this same Bat-Forum for the conclusion!!!

No problem, I just thought the tires had a "lindberg-ish" look to them. Still love what you did, it's a real nice job!!!

Thanks guys!! Love the AMT kit. It builds so well. The only bad part is like Lee said, the supercharger is an aftermarket kit, and not the factory setup. This kit pressurizes the entire carburetor, inside a pressure box. The factory system would use a cast cover to pressurize trough the Holley teapot carb. I built a Custom Tudor with the factory setup. Revell only missed the dual belt drive most cars had. 1957 Ford Custom Tudor Inca Gold by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr

AMT 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Club Victoria. Fully stock (well almost) with just a little treat under the hood. A blown 312. Paint is Tamiya TS-15 blue. Foil is home made, no BMF. Also has gold candy wrap on the side spears. The kit used was one of those old ones molded in blue. have to get another one of those... Fast build, only took me five days. The only extra detail is a wired distributor, and plug wires that go above the valve covers due to the headers installed. Not much detail, only a nice shelf model to go back to FoMoCo after building a Dodge EEEEEWWW!!! 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Club Vicky by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Club Vicky by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Club Vicky by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Club Vicky by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Club Vicky by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Club Vicky by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Club Vicky by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Club Vicky by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Club Vicky by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr

Very nice looking Custom. Very tasty with a mean and simple look. By the way, are the tires from the Lindberg '53 Ford? Still have to build one of that.

The car is not my cup of tea, but WOW, what a job well done!!

Charger now with the 500 grille. Or kind of.
Lovefordgalaxie replied to Lovefordgalaxie's topic in Model Cars
Thanks gents!!! I just had to change the grille. I was afraid of having to pay years of therapy so the car would actually "discover" what he is, Now he can say: "I'm a Charger 500"... "500!!, like a Galaxie..." -
Looks like it's going a mile a minute standing still.

my grandsons first, with a little help from grandpa
Lovefordgalaxie replied to uncle potts's topic in Model Cars
Oh boy, another kid that won't have a girlfriend, and will spend countless hours of precious summer sun inside building models... Wait, just wait. What's bad about it? Nothing!!! He can even find a girlfriend that also builds models!! Well done, keep up my young fellow, because if you don't, we that like to build those things will soon be extinct. The video games and modern gadgets would have won. -

Lovefordgalaxie replied to Lovefordgalaxie's topic in Model Cars
That grille would had saved me a LOT of trouble. Mine I did using a piece of a photoetch grille, that I cut to fit the Charger grille. Used some tape on the back before painting it black, so the Charger R/T grille wouldn't be visible, and the headlights came from an old AMT 1964 Impala grille. Not as neat as a real kit's part, but kind of gives the idea of what the car is. -
That is one handsome Galaxie Starliner!!!! Loved the color choice

I couldn't sleep, I kept picturing the poor little Dodge Charger with that R/T grille, and had to help him. Tried my best at scratchbuilding a more stock looking Charger 500 grille. 1969 Dodge Charger 500 by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1969 Dodge Charger 500 by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1969 Dodge Charger 500 by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1969 Dodge Charger 500 by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr

Big Bugatti in the house!
Lovefordgalaxie replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Almost as cool as a '66 Galaxie 500 Four door sedan with a optional R code 427. No not really, not even close. Not my cup of tea. but I will love to see you build it. -
Thanks guys!!! I guess I could build a 500 grille, but man that makes the car even uglier. All that Nascar madness produced some pretty strange cars, like the Charger 500 the Daytona, Superbird, and Torino Talladega.

Picture Harry!!!!! Picture pleaseeeeeee -
Built this model from the AMT Dukes of Hazzard kit. Like I had already used the Dukes decals on what I think should be a General Lee, I built the Dodge in a more "civilian" clothing. Even me that by no means I'm a Mopar guy, know this kit has some identity issues, not to mention some detail missing, like all the rear view mirrors, the actual pedals, shock absorbers, and radiator hoses, to mention just a few few. This one isn't AMT best hour, but still buils into a very cool and mean looking musclecar, if you don't care about the wrong grille, or correct grille and wrong rear window... I don't know anymore... Anyway... The tires and wheels are from my parts box, and came on the AMT '60 Ford Starliner kit. The paint is also left over from the Starliner. It's automotive synthetic enamel. All the rest I painted with Acrilex paints. The foil is household aluminum. I did the foiling on camera, and published on my YouTube account. Hope you guys like my third ever Mopar build (1969 Coronet Super Bee, 1958 Plymouth Belvedere, and this baby). 1969 Dodge Charger by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1969 Dodge Charger by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1969 Dodge Charger by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1969 Dodge Charger by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1969 Dodge Charger by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1969 Dodge Charger by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1969 Dodge Charger by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1969 Dodge Charger by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1969 Dodge Charger by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1969 Dodge Charger by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr

Revell 57 Ford Sedan - Starting corrections
Lovefordgalaxie replied to Sledsel's topic in WIP: Model Cars
The Revell kit can't hold a candle to the old AMT. I know I know, the AMT is old, and doesn't have the same level of detail, like a separate frame, and molded in exhaust. Even tough, the resulting model looks a lot more accurate than the Revell kit's resulting model. I guess there is something to be said to people that do things without using a computer to do the job for them. Back in the day they had to actually think.
