Sounds like it was a great time.

Who and where are the MacGuyver Fans?!?

X2. -
VERY nice 'Cuda! George's health is very bad of late, so anyone with the desire to meet him should do so as quickly as possible. He's 87 now and hasn't much time left. John, I hope you or your wife took lots of pictures during the meet with him, and got an autograph.
-
I know it for a fact.
-
That would be a replica Batmobile in the background. Sounds like a good time though. Was your 'Cuda in the show? Let's see a pic of that!
-
Well let's see... The Batmobile metal work was actually done by Bill Cushenbery. The Munster's Koach AND Dragula were designed by Tom Daniel. The Mach 5 was built by an independent and the Starsky and Hutch Torino was created by the production company on that show. I just love how old Georgie loves to steal credit for cars he never built just because he owns one now or the guy who really did build it used to work for him. Sam Barris was the true artist in that family, may he rest in peace.

What is up with Round 2's decals
MAGNUM4342 replied to Custom Hearse's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Round2 has been having trouble with decals since before becoming R2. They use more than one company to produce their decals. Step one- No matter the kit, ALWAYS clear coat their decals. Step two- Contact them and they will send you a replacement. http://round2models.com/replacement/ They've also experienced this recently with both scales of their Batmobile kits. -
No, I don't eat McDonald's junk. Unless you have a rash...then you're better off with ointment.

But can I just tell you what I want for Christmas without sitting on your lap?
-
I'm better now. I just picked up my prescriptions.

CHUCK! I am aghast! I'm non-plussed! My plussed has never been so non! How dare you build a STOCK '49 Mercury. I don't know what's gotten into you but you have broken one of the top two rules in the car world. The other one would be building a '57 Chevy without flames! It just isn't done sir! I'm done speaking ironically now. THAT is one beautiful Mercury. That paint is flawless! You've earned five out of five from me. B)

All the pictures I post keep coming up backwards...do you think I have pixlexia? While walking down the beach one day a divorced man sees a bottle. Picking it up and dusting off the sand a genie pops out. "I am the genie of the bottle AND the patron saint of ex-wives. For releasing me of 3,000 years imprisonment I will grant you three wishes, but be forewarned! Whatever you ask for you ex wife will get double!" The man says "I've always wanted to be a multimillionaire, how about ten million dollars?" A moment later he's holding a bank book with a ten million dollar account! The genie reminds him his ex just got twenty million. The guy says "Hey, whatever! Now I'd like a mansion here on the beach." A moment later a beautiful mansion appears, overlooking the ocean. "Your ex just got two mansions on the beach." The guy rolls his eyes, "Yeah, whatever." The genie says "Now what do you want for your third and final wish?" The man grins wide at the genie and says in a firm voice "Beat me HALF to death!"

Sounds to me like the ants are sending you a warning by bringing their dead to your work station. I would make peace in a hurry! Remember the horse's head in the bed?
-
I'm pretty sure glue had SOMETHING to do with it though! And thank you Jim. Unfortunately I've gotten into the habit here of apologizing in advance because too many feathers get ruffled too easily around here.

Why should it? I've known and been saying for a couple years now, that NASCAR has become like professional wrestling. If you don't believe that just go back and watch the 2001 Firecracker 400 and try to tell me they didn't hand that race to junior. Let me say right now I am not an Earnhardt junior hater. But that race was awful fishy and NASCAR has been since! MWR did nothing different than any other team has tried over the years...they just got caught at it! Find me a team that's squeaky clean. There isn't one! I'm one of the biggest Petty fans you'll ever see and I'll readily admit they were the best at cheating. If a team tries it today, the Petty's tried it two decades ago. I think NAPA should have left it alone and gone about it's business. What MWR pulled has nothing to do with their parts.

Need help with laquer paint
MAGNUM4342 replied to keone2013's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Some guys will wet sand and then clear coat, others will clear coat, then wet sand that and polish. I prefer to wet sand, clear coat, wet sand again then polish. -
It just so happens I did this very thing less than an hour ago while working on a Milk Truck Glue bomb. #1. There's no need to leave the model there for days. A couple hours will suffice. (no disrespect intended Jim) #2. Place the entire model or all parts you wish to take apart in a large ziplock bag. During the freezing process some parts may fall off on their own. #3. You'll find chrome parts easiest to take apart, especially in cases where the chrome was not scraped away prior to gluing. #4. Try to pull all parts straight away from the one it's attached to avoiding any twisting or prying motion. #5. In cases where chromed or painted parts were glued together without scraping I find a good dousing of Easy Off oven cleaner to be a good debonder. #6. If you absolutely must use a razor blade or knife STOP! Get up from your bench and go get a box of band-aids and a tube of neo-sporin. With these two items on the bench you will confound Murphy's law and greatly reduce your chances of cutting yourself. If you do cut yourself, pick up the band aids and neo-sporin with your good hand, and go directly to the sink. Rinse the cut under cold running water and add the sporin and band aid. Just remember to work slowly but deliberately and that there's no reason you can't re-freeze the parts that haven't yet come apart and try again. Good luck and be careful. Oh, and don't forget to let the rest of the household know it's in there so it doesn't get a box of freezie pops thrown on top of it. I hope this is a help. By the way, I find your avatar to be appropriately poetic for a thread titled "unglued". Jerome Horwitz (Curly Howard) was one of the most unglued characters ever!

Pearl white paint question
MAGNUM4342 replied to edward smith's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Use a white primer, then the pearl. You can base it with a gloss coat of white paint, but it would be a waste of time and add thickness to the paint job you don't need. -
Yes, and for those of you who don't know the rules have been changed on those. At first you could get them expunged after a certain amount of time passed. Now they are permanent apparently.

Which Porsche to Build?
MAGNUM4342 replied to Ken McGuire's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I've always preferred the old Revell 911, and the even older, multi piece bodied spyder kit. How about the cursed car of James Dean? -
Now THAT's a GOOD ONE!

What Gave You Confidence or Cheered You Up Today?

Well...I was going to say it was the voices in my head going away, but now I have no one to talk to. -
COBRA -Sylvester Stallone
MAGNUM4342 replied to davyou5's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
What I don't get is why you guys keep bringing up Jerry Reed as being in American Graffiti. Check the complete cast list, then check his film credits. Jerry Reed WAS NOT in AG. -
Home from the hospital! Update Friday, Sept11th!
MAGNUM4342 replied to Terry Sumner's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
So glad to hear it Terry...well...some of it (eww!, details) But we're all glad you're doing better. Follow doctors orders and you'll be back on top in no time.
