  1. He seemed to really like the car too. Good onya!
  2. I'm not much for fridge trimming, but this one's on mine now!
  3. Yes, and it was for promotionals only because Petty was endorsing Goody's headache powders. The car was owned by Goody's, NOT Petty. So I stand on my statement.
  4. That's actually the way to go if you aren't a regular caster. And heck, if you wind up with a bunch of extra parts you can use the extras to trade with folks for other parts here.
  5. Sorry Bill, got caught up on the other issue. I have had the same message. It's just a scare tactic to chase you into a premium account. I would just ignore it or open a secondary account.
  6. I make good use of the "save this search" feature. It sends me daily e-mails when the item I want gets listed. Then I just put it on the watch list, check it daily and snipe when appropriate or hit the BIN. The thing to remember is that in 99% of cases, the item is not a limited piece. There are thousands upon thousands out there. If you don't grab the brass ring this time around just continue to ride until you do. Another one will be along tomorrow.
  7. Ditto. If loading pics takes too long it might be a comp issue. Like most folks I have had slight problems using PB but they are usually on top of it and the issue goes away in a day or two. Patience young Padawan.
  8. Thanks Bill. My place has lever style door latches so when she can't get the door open from under she'll jump up and pop the latch by hitting the lever! She used to do that with the screen door to let herself out, but after an encounter with a skunk I keep it locked. I told her if she figured out how to unlock the door she could come and go as she pleased. So far...nuthin. As for Anne, I agree, she was always pleasant to me and even sent me a couple items asking for nothing in return. Maybe the guy in the picture was a brother, boyfriend or son, I can't speak to that. All I can say is a suspicious mind is a paranoid mind. I do not understand why certain folks were so threatened by her but such is the internet. At least she never tried to lure anyone into her basement right?
  9. Very true. It just takes patience. I once bought a partially built "Milk Truck" by Doyusha because I figured I'd never score a mint example. One month later I scored one of those big buck kits, a mint Eldon version, for about $40 bucks. They were routinely going for $100 to $150. Other kits I've seen going for between $20 and $50 I've been able to score for as little as $5. It doesn't hurt that I was shopping in the summertime when competition is lower.
  10. Allen got it. Bo "Bandit" Darville. From what i've heard, Reynolds had to talk Sally Field into taking the part of Carrie. She thought the part was too light. I now return you to your regularly scheduled discussion.
  11. Hugh, there are a few factors in how these things break down but yes, silicone molds will start to break down from the moment they cure. Length of time they last will depend not only on storage but shore hardness, brand used and of course how much they are used. Since the chemical reaction of the resin causes heat each use will break them down further. If you warm your molds (essential only when using clear resins) they will break down faster. The higher the shore hardness the slower the oils will leach. Environment plays a factor as well. Dry climates are harsh on them but a more temperate climate will degrade them slower. If you live in Nevada or Arizona they will break down quicker than if you live in say, Iowa or Ohio. Storing them with a casting in them is something I have not tried yet but it seems to me that if you do that, as the mold ages and loses those oils and shrinks, a casting left in the mold will only cause cracks. You can get some mold conditioner that will help. It's king of like WD40 for silicone. It will help the mold last longer if used regularly every few castings and right before storage. You can also use vaseline petroleum jelly. Coat the entire inside of the mold with vaseline right before storing them. Store them in a non-plastic box away from direct light or heat. The storage area should be cool but not cold. As Bill said between 60 and 75 or 80 degrees is best. No matter what you do, the tin cure molds will be useless in less than a year and platinum silicone will last between a year and two. Most of this I had to learn the hard way.
  12. Welcome fellow buckeye. I'm originally from Canton.
  13. The 1977 Trans Am "Special Edition" model used in the movie traces back to a GM Design show car created for Bill Mitchell (VP of Design) for the 1974 GM Division Show Circuit. Bill liked the Lotus F1 race car "John Player Special" livery and used that Black and Gold paint scheme to create the car. Buford T. Justice was based on a real Florida Sherrif of the same name. Just for fun...who knows the Bandit's real name? (No fair looking it up and don't say Burt Reynolds )
  14. Covered, as in "in a box" yes. In a plastic bag? NO. The plastic bag will only serve to leech essential oils out of the mold and degrade it faster.
  15. Adding a clear coat or two serves two purposes. It will help to bond the old decal print and keep it from cracking/breaking apart in most cases, and will add a thicker surface layer to help avoid curling. I suspect (and this is just a supposition) that part of the issue is the water is too warm. Try using luke warm water just above room temperature to soak decals in, and don't let them lay in the water. As soon as the backing paper is thoroughly soaked remove them from the water and place them on a plastic sheet or plate or even wax paper. The wax paper is best because it will not allow the water to run away from the decal. Being out of the water keeps the decal from being surrounded and therefore gives it a much better chance at not curling. Decals in water tend to float away from the paper when you aren't looking and that's when they curl up. Hope this helps.
  16. X2! I'm not a Pont fan but that's a wicked paint job on the trim.
  17. Looks to me as if they just added new decals...and a hat.
  18. How's this one?
  19. YUUUP! Still blown away by this! Just exceptional work going on here. Sorry if I missed it somewhere (there's alot to take in! ) but are you going to do the doors like the trunk?
  20. Design A is showing now. Although simplistic compared to the others, I think it's popularity would be based on that. The simpler design would be easier to duplicate and would not distract the eye from any cars added to the dio. Just my opinion.
  21. In most cases a second coating of easy off and a good scrubbing with an old toothbrush is sufficient. As Jeff suggests the Dawn power disolver works really well. The thing to remember with the Easy off is to use luke warm water for a rinse. Cold water will only retard the chemicals and make them not work as well. I've also had good luck using ajax style cleaners. However do not let any powdered cleanser sit on the part for any length of time. Sprinkle some on the toothbrush and then scrub the part rinsing intermittantly under running water. This should clean the parts up quickly and quite well. Hope this helps.
  22. Because they want to. It's thier build.
  23. Mine has a third marking. "ALC 4107". I'm not sure what difference there might be. I see no paints on thier website with an "R" designation. How old is it?
