  1. I agree 100%
  2. Hmmmmm...there must be a solid reason for it...she's so sweet butter wouldn't melt in her mouth.
  3. The Monkees were not a manufactured band. They played their own instruments and fought hard to get their recognition. They were only manufactured in the sense that a TV producer brought them together. THAT's never happened before in any other case.
  4. I felt the same way when Swift first started. Now all she is, is a vindictive little snot (NOT what I wanted to write!) who writes a hateful song about everyone who breaks up with her. As far as the Doors are concerned, Morrison wrote nice poetry but he couldn't sing to save his life!
  5. With the likes of Swift and Bieber out there, I say it's just going to get worse.
  6. Several manufacturers made 1/24th/25th scale hood pin sets that included the plates, cotter style and torsion style retainer pins. That's what i'm looking for.
  7. Based on this statement Harry, i'm sorry but I will have to stop agreeing with you. I cannot back up anything more that you say as it may or may not be true and accurate. From now on when you write something I will have to check with Al Gore before responding.
  8. They had doors when you were in your twenties Harry?
  9. Nicely done on those white walls Dominick. I'm going to try that. Thanks.
  10. That's just me making an assumption based on the length of time Revellogram has been using them. From what I understand they do have a significant number of kits still in standard packaging.
  11. Normally that would be my move too, but the tires in this kit do go well with it. Especially detailed as well as Dominick did his.
  12. That's kinda why I asked. The only ones I've had have been the ugly pea green ones in the retro longbox. I haven't had one of the recent re-issues in the clamshell/donut box. (I bought a case of them back when they were first re-issued)
  13. I just can't help coming back over and over. Another detail I find particularly stunning are the white walls! Beautiful job on those. May I ask how you did them?
  14. Because he wants it that way? Seriously, this is looking so sweet I think I just lost a tooth!
  15. More misinformation. (sigh) There was ONE Futura built. No more. A few years ago a man by the name of Bob Butts bought a mold from George Barris of the Batmobile. He used a fiberglass body from that to make a replica Futura. Anyone who has any questions about the true history of the car feel free to p.m. me. My friend Jacen researched this car for over thirty years and by extension so did I.
  16. That's all your choice my friend. I only took a moment to point out the color for those who may not have known. Because of the display carousel the car traveled with and the way it's seafoam green color reflected off the car, most folks just assume it was a green car. By the way, yes the license plate is missing, but the exhaust is right there in the bumper. Not a lot of folks know but those blacked out ports in the rear bumper are the exhaust. (WHAT were they thinkin right?) Most excellent job on the Alclad too by the way.
  17. I've considered it Skip, but it's just such a regal looking car I can't bring myself to do that to it.
  18. Well...the box art is incorrect for the car. They should have done it in white as the real thing was Frost blue pearlescent white. That being said, it's a VERY nice and clean build of a difficult model. The '55 Futura concept is one of my all time favorite cars and you've done it justice, just by getting the multi-piece body straight. Mucho kudos on a fine build.
  19. WHAT is WRONG with you?!? Have a little respect!
  20. In my humble opinion, use the Revell 1969 kit and sand off the vinyl detail if you're doing a pilot episode car. In the pilot episode the General had the chrome trim that a vinyl topped car had. If you are doing any other GL, the 1968 kit with the 1969 kit tail light panel will suffice. I would go with resin wheels and a scratchbuilt brush guard and roll bar. The brush guard in the AMT kit is too wimpy and needs to be beefed up and the roll bars are okay, but rather than buy a third kit they should be scratched...and aftermarket decals. The AMT kit is okay, but doesn't have the modern detailing and molding so a lot of the details are clunky. The cars on the show were not limited engine wise. They ran everything from a 318 in the jump cars (because of weight) on up to the 440. None of the GL's had a HEMI until the movie. I hope this is a help.
  21. All your friends are behind you John. I'm having the same issues. I'll pray for you, and keep us updated.
  22. Mister Trickle was one heckuva nice guy. Met and spoke with him at the ocean center in Daytona years ago. His presence will be surely missed.
  23. #1. As the others have said, Alclad is tougher than kit chrome...IF YOU APPLY IT RIGHT. Those of you who have it rubbing off aren't applying it right. #2. I use an Exacto blade or a dental pick. Either works great for opening panel lines. I definitely prefer the dental pick. It rarely slips out of line. #3. Sometimes masking tape, sometimes frosted cellophane tape and sometimes bare metal foil. The main thing to remember is not to stir the pot by alluding to- some folks are lying or talking out their arse when asking such a question. Remember, everyone is different and results WILL vary person to person. What works for me might not work for jollysipper. When one makes statements like "I just want to bring the truth to light..." it flies in the face of "I don't want to start any arguments...". Focus on trying a new technique as described by a member. If it doesn't work for you after a few tries, go to a different method. It's as simple as that. If you are scared to try a new technique you are most likely trying it on the wrong model. Try it first on a kit you don't care about, or even better, a plain sheet of Plastruct.
