Greg Myers Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Going to Las Vegas in June, don't care for the shows, gambling nor all the glitz. I know there must be something there car wise, first up would be the Shelby factory / museum, anything else?
Harry P. Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Rent a Viper and drive through the desert as fast as you dare...
cobraman Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 I'm pretty sure you can rent a Cobra there it will however be a replica.
Harry P. Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Meh. You're comparing a 40+ year old Charger to a new Viper????
Ken Gilkeson Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 hope there aren't any curves. ;-)) pretty charger though.
High octane Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Rent a Ferrari. If I didn't like the shows or the gambling, I would have no reason to go to Vegas.
Rob Hall Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 There used to be a car museum in one of the casinos..I remember walking through it about 10 years ago, but I think it closed.
Rob Hall Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 (edited) That was in the Imperial Palace. Yes, that was what I was thinking of. Other than cars on display at casinos ('Win a Car'!) I usually don't notice the cars...mostly I've gone to Vegas for the shows/concerts and restaurants. I do recall the Wynn having Maybachs as their limos..I work w/ some people that go to Vegas every month, but once every few years is often enough for me. Edited April 8, 2015 by Rob Hall
Harry P. Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 I saw the Imperial Palace collection several years ago. Pretty impressive. It's still there, but the Imperial Palace is now the Linq. https://www.caesars.com/linq/things-to-do/the-auto-collections#.VSR76yjVCzc
mikemodeler Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 I haven't been there recently but I do remember some co-workers talking about visiting a couple of places that are featured on History channel TV shows- Rick's Restoration & Kounts Kustoms. Maybe Sgt. Wayne will chime in with some places to see!
oldnslow Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 We went last year, our second trip out there, had a great time. Went to the Pawn Stars pawn shop, a hole that is made to look good on TV. Counts Customs was kinda neat, his collection of cars was open to viewing, the aquarium on the north end of town was nice and the old strip down on Fremont was fun. Haven't been out to Rick's Restorations, but seems like that would be fun, as he seems to be the most down to earth of the TV "stars" on the shows there.
Ace-Garageguy Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 (edited) You just missed Viva Las Vegas...hot cars, pinup girls and great rockabilly music. I've only been twice...and it was pretty cool. http://www.vivalasvegas.net/ PIX LINK https://www.flickr.com/photos/8328800@N03/sets/72157624041668992/ Edited April 8, 2015 by Ace-Garageguy
Ace-Garageguy Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Hows 'bout the Dal Toro Italian Restaurant and exotic car gallery in the Palazzo??
Ace-Garageguy Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 And this looks like fun... http://archive.azcentral.com/travel/free/20130503racing-muscle-cars-vegas.html
freakshow12 Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 DEFINATELY go to the shelby american facility. I was at the old one at the speedway when I got a car converted there. Was at that one 3 times in total. The new one is way nicer I hear. If you want to see cobra #1 it's there to see.
Danno Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 I can give you Agent G's address. The old heap in his driveway is an automotive attraction even Ripley doesn't believe!
Agent G Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 That ain't fair! It's paid for at least! The car museum at the Linq is open, There's the Ferrari dealership at the Wynn, it has a nice two level show room/museum. There's a hot rod shop that I'll have to look up for you as well. Shelby is a must now that they are in the new building. G
Greg Myers Posted April 8, 2015 Author Posted April 8, 2015 Rent a Ferrari. If I didn't like the shows or the gambling, I would have no reason to go to Vegas. Family thing, some ones birthday. Going to see Donny & Marie.
Petetrucker07 Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 You poor poor man. You need a trip the Shelby shop after that. You could always go look at Counts Customs show room. Danny has a nice collection of cars.
mikemodeler Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 Family thing, some ones birthday. Going to see Donny & Marie. Well at least she got on Nutrisystem and is looking a lot better these days!
