martinfan5 Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Tamiya is reissuing the Toyota Land Cruiser 80 kits, both the stock version and the with options parts kit, July is when they are scheduled to be in stock
Pim Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Cool might have to get one of these we use to have a 60 series that I would like to replicate but this is close enough
chunkypeanutbutter Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Would make a nice model of an African guide service vehicle.
hjracing Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 I have the options parts kit, umbuild yet, and is a great kit! Lets see if they make any change (I hope more modern tires)...
unclescott58 Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 My only complaint looking at the pictures, does it provide the option to build it with the steering wheel on the left? This is one of the few things that stops me from buying certain kits of Japanees vehicles from Japan. If the car or truck was available in left hand drove in real life, that's the version I'd like to build. I have found some Japanees kit over the years that do offer the option of building the kit right or left hand drive. But, not enough,of them. Scott

Scott The stock Land Cruiser kit does indeed come with all the LHD parts. I've never seen the inside of the "Sports Option" kit to know for sure on that one. These kits were made back in 1991, when HLJ and associated vendors didn't exist so showing parts for the LHD construction option wasn't a priority as (just as now really) most LHS didn't stock a lot of Tamiya kits. Especially the "run of the mill" stuff like the Land Cruiser.
Jordan White Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Sweet! These kits are tough to find, especially the version with the sport options. I know that the Montero kit with sport options comes with both LHD and RHD interiors, so I'm guessing the Land Cruiser is the same.

niteowl7710 Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 If it does, good news. Scott Alright some searching around by Jonathan found builds of the Sport Option Land Cruiser built with LHD parts, so they're in there as well. I have the factory stock one, so it's not if, they're there.

It would make sense that the With Options version would have both dash options , since its the same kit with just having a extra parts tree(s) added to the box.
blubaja Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Yes. Both lhd and rhd. But you have to fill the wiper holes in the cowl for either side not used.

blubaja Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Here is the options one. I lifted it a little and made the snorkel. But otherwise, it builds like any other Tamiya kit. IE-excellent.

Rob Hall Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 I decided I needed to get both of them I may need both also...I like Landies, both stock and modded...the modded one would look good in dark gray w/ black wheels. A coworker has a sweet modded '84 60 series, and a '70 FJ...neat trucks.
lysleder Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Say, are there different tires in the "factory stock" and "sport option" kits? It looks a bit like that in the pictures.
Jordan White Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 (edited) Yup. The stock kit uses Dunlops, and the Sport Options kit uses Yokohama Mud Diggers. Edited April 18, 2015 by Jordan White
Rob Hall Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Would be nice..along with an FJ40/FJ45 in a few variations...
Atmobil Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Esci had a BJ-44 in several versions Italeri has recently reissued it as the Armed Pickup:
Luc Janssens Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Anyone here, know how to get the 5 stock tires from this kit? Need a set cuz they fit the Monogram F250 wheels like they were made for it
gasman Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Kit is out, picked up the stock version today for $36 at the LHS
Rob Hall Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Got both versions in my HLJ PW..probably will do a shipment in August w/ them and others.
