exesivefire Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 So I've been kicking around this crazy idea for a bit, I'm kinda planning as I go, as usual... Armed with a doodle, some measurements I scaled out in Illustrator and a spare cab from a previous (poor) build I got to work.. Oh and a ton of sheet styrene. The doodle.. Started by stripping the cab (amazingly the windows were painted and they look saveable too) I then set that on a set of Moebius semi wheels and Pegasus 23's to check and see where I was. then I got to work with a Xacto, a ruler and a bunch of .040 sheet.... Obviously a ton of work ahead, but I cant stop smiling.. this one should be FUN! 1
chunkypeanutbutter Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Stealing my U-Haul idea! My plan was to use a Datsun, but still! At least yours should get finished!
DumpyDan Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Looks great, and nice and clean cuts. Wow good work, keep it coming
Pim Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Definitely adding myself to the following list great idea for a build

SlotDaddy1963 Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Very nice! I'm wondering what state specific decals you'll use
gatorincebu Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Real cool project. I like the over all idea. And also what you have done thus far! be Well Gator
misterNNL Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Now this is cool!Wonder what this will be haulin? You might consider Utah for the state design on the out side of the box and some salt flats views as well. I might be tempted to make up an imaginary state of my own like the state of "Confusion" and sticker bomb it with question marks.
exesivefire Posted May 1, 2015 Author Posted May 1, 2015 (edited) I'm probably going with the generic older logos and stripes. Might even "remove" some. Keep in mind this is a late 80s early 90s body style, they were a little more simple then. Little weathering here and there too. Like someone bought it, bagged it and had some fun. I'm currently debating weather I want to have the rear open up or not.. I'm leaning towards doing so Edited May 1, 2015 by exesivefire
exesivefire Posted May 2, 2015 Author Posted May 2, 2015 little more progress on my fancy plastic box.

62pyro Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 Have you figured out a way to do a rollup door? Can't wait to see more progress updates.
exesivefire Posted May 2, 2015 Author Posted May 2, 2015 Have you figured out a way to do a rollup door? Can't wait to see more progress updates. I have a few ideas... But nothing solid yet
rsxse240 Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 I love it. I have been eyeing a real Ryder van (Chevy G30) that's for sale here in OK
jacoballardtattoo Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 This one I have to watch, I spent quite some time running a U-haul repair shop. Personally I hate the things but that's only the ones I had to repair constantly. Your build is looking great and the van box looks almost perfect.
