Equally stunning is what’s going on underneath the hood. GWA plans to shovel a 6.2-liter supercharged LS9 V8 from the late-great C6 Corvette ZR1 into the engine bay, good for over 620 horsepower. The engine transplant will complement a tubular spaceframe chassis, custom suspension setup, six-speed manual gearbox, Brembo racing brakes, GWA-designed wheels, and Fabspeed exhaust.

This is a great rendition of the Coupe , but with an LS in it what the point of using the Stud body?

Simple, those Studes seem to dominate that race, so these are Ultimate Street Car style tributes to the car,the race, and the country the race is held in.

I kinda see your point, but it would take some serious effort to get the power, reliably, from an old Stude engine that you can get off-the-junkyard-shelf with an LS.

The LS powerplant is rapidly going the way of the old smallblock Chebby, becoming the go-to HP source for just about everything, and for much the same set of reasons.

Frankly, there are some things about the LS engine I don't particularly like now that I'm getting into them. I personally think this particular car would be more interesting with a supercharged late-model Hemi...but I have zero knowledge about them internally so far.

A Hemi like my Sister's Challenger has or one of the naturally asperated SRT motors would be a pretty sweet swap into one of those Studes, but I can see the LS being pretty useful, especially the LS-A.

If Singer did a Studebaker it probably would look somthing like that. I like the idea of modern touch and still keep the original design.

One of my favorite subjects.

One of the biggest reasons is because only cars that were eligible to race in the original CP are allowed to enter, 1950-54. Although it doesn't look like too much original Studebaker sheet metal is left in the car in the first post. With the aero styling of the Studes (waaayyy ahead of their time) it's hard to beat with a reliable power plant. Check out the stats here.
