BigTallDad Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 (edited) I don't know if this has been posted somewhere else, but it's a new idea to me. I suspect there might be a few groans followed by "Why didn't I think of that?" Those slide grips you use to close laundry bags, tighten parka hoods etc. can also be used with rubber bands. The slide grips can be found at Walmart, in the Camping Supplies area. Open the slide by pressing the button, then slide the rubber band through. The optional straw segment is used as a stand-off, to prevent the slide from contacting the part being glued. You now control the tension on the rubber band...no more wrapping multiple times to get the desired tautness, and removal is a breeze. Edited May 20, 2015 by BigTallDad
randx0 Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Groan. why didn't I think of that? Seriously I wouldn't have, but I'm glad you did and shared it.
Miatatom Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Found them at WM in the sewing/craft section. Look on the button rack. They're called Drawstring Stoppers. Got 2 black ones.
JerseyRed Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 Could've used it a few minutes ago. I'll be picking up a couple.

peteski Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 Simple, yet pretty creative idea. Thanks Ray!
David G. Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 Very clever, thanks for sharing this.David G.
Casey Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 That's a great idea. Plus, the soft rubber of the rubber band won't leave any dent/impression or knock off a head bolt, etc.
highwayman58 Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 That's a great idea. I never have enough clamps
