Wow!!!! Plum ice!!!! Please send me a link that i can score that quality of paint!! Good grief!

That's the frustrating thing - the few times I've seen projects that used his paint, they looked sharp, but IIRC "Bob" doesn't have a website where you can check out his colors or pricing etc. What's a prospective customer supposed to do if they're interested in seeing what colors are available, what kinds of paint are being sold (enamels, lacquers etc) and what the paint and shipping costs are?

Pearl white, and dark violet inserts for seats with the dash top and door tops in exterior color, bottom sections pearl white, carpet in violet.

It's interesting you say this.

I've noticed in general that most if not all of the ma/pa shops have little to no web presence worth mentioning.

And fewer check emails etc...

About the only one with a good web site and who replies to emails is Paul Fisher of Fisher Model & Pattern.

I'm thinking these ppl have day jobs and do the hobby biz as a love/passion on there own time which by the looks of it, they don't have much of (time that is).

I'm with you!

I think some combination of white & lavender would make a much nicer combo with this color.

Although, if you're looking for something to tie in with the wheels, maybe white with gold accents would look nice.

I think I'd stay away from tan.

Some established model-related businesses (Replicas & Miniatures of Maryland etc) can use their lack of web presence to keep the amount of business at a level that keeps them from getting swamped, but I don't understand how a start-up business can get off the ground if no one knows it exists. I want guys like this to succeed because it's likely he'll have something I want, but I still have no clue how to find answers regarding the things I mentioned in my original post.

Try this, hope it helps.

I truly don't mean to come off as antagonistic, but it looks like he's either just a repackager or a reseller of HoK paints. By all accounts it's fantastic paint, but is there an advantage in dealing with him vs buying straight from HoK?

Well, he repacks em in a usable quantity for our hobby and perhaps does a mix as well. Plus there is support of you should have any questions about application/usage/clean up etc...

I don't think its as simple as simply going to the source. If you can afford it buy Bobs.

In terms of my approach, I will always w/o question buy our hobby specific products.

Tom, that's an outstanding color you've chosen. If you're running those wheels and tires, you must have something really special planned for the engine. Great start!
