BigTallDad Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 (edited) One of my favorite kits (I'm currently doing a full Sportsman Woody using this kit)! Skill-level 3, great fit, and minor body filling/sanding for great results. All dressed up for a contest; note the open fresh-air vent and the scratch-built (steel) antenna Edited June 1, 2015 by BigTallDad
bbowser Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Very nice! Is that the old IMC kit? The open vent is a neat touch.
Guest Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Very nice! Is that the old IMC kit? The open vent is a neat touch. Looks like Revell's to me, beautiful!
Stray Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 great looking build man. Like others have said, super clean and well detailed. Excellent finish all round.
BigTallDad Posted June 2, 2015 Author Posted June 2, 2015 (edited) If you look closely, there's a very small box in several pictures. That is a model of the Revell box. I opened the box up, took a picture, scaled it down, and made the miniature (in 1/25) box. Edited June 2, 2015 by BigTallDad
Mr Stock Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Stunning build Ray, this is a great kit I have one in the pile to do someday. Love the detail work you have done.
Dominik Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Wow...beautiful Ford. Like the red you choosed. Very nice, also your detailwork. Well done!
TooOld Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Beautifully done BTD , I have this one saved in my "Ideas" folder ! The perfect color and excellent detailing .
hack-n-whack Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Going to build a Sportsman ? Very cool conversion. One question; what to do about the tatllights? Scratch-build them too? Very nice build of your convertabile also!

Grumpa Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Beautiful build Ray! Great interior/exterior color combo!
Speedfreak Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Nice job Ray, very nice. What did you use for the chrome on the front bumper, grill, and hub caps?
BigTallDad Posted June 2, 2015 Author Posted June 2, 2015 Nice job Ray, very nice. What did you use for the chrome on the front bumper, grill, and hub caps? Thanks. the parts you mention are included in the kit, and well done I might add. It's a great kit and I highly recommend it. The only thing I did with the wheel covers was paint in the Ford info using red watercolor (it's easy to wipe off with a moist business card if you "color" outside the lines).
ChrisBcritter Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 The taillights from a '51 Chevy are extremely close. Since I have a spare set, I'll use them. Try and find or copy the ones from the Monogram '55 Ford panel truck - IIRC they're the same part in 1/1.
moparfarmer Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Thats one sweet ride..For those who say they have a model in the stash that they will build in the future(distant) and if you are older hope you don't get arthritis or such, bad eye site or dexterity where the right hand doesn't want to work with the left hand..Build it now if you can..You don't know how PO I'am that I can't build like I used to...Sorry for adding the extra comment on the thread..The convertible is da bomb..Great work and detail and very clean..Liking the open vent(not seen too much on models) very catching..Very well done..
