thatz4u Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Talked to Revell's Ed Sexton, at IPMS Columbus Oh Show. The 29 Ford Roadster is just around the corner, Starsky Torino has some setbacks, & the new tool 57 Ranchero was a "no comment", Revell is aware of the Resin Conversions kits out there. Some comment was made as to interest in a new tool Ranchero by hobbiests, perhaps an email campagain would help....Revell Germany seems to have little interest in importing & selling American hot rods, muscle cars, etc to the European market.too bad for the guys across the pond.my comment to them...Herr Revell, tear down that wall!!
Drake69 Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Awesome about the '29 Roadster, but I'm REALLY pulling for the Torino and Ranchero. C'mon Revell!!! We want these BADLY!!!!!
stavanzer Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 OK, so who do we need to send the emails to?Ed Sexton, or somebody else? Alan
Ron Hamilton Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 (edited) Since this was something of my doing, I can say that while I would have welcomed Revell kitting this, I took great satisfaction in creating this model. Funny, I still have not built a sedan, and I have three unbuilt ones in the collection. Edited July 23, 2015 by Ron Hamilton

thatz4u Posted July 23, 2015 Author Posted July 23, 2015 Start emailing Revell about the Ranchero, it will show interest in the kit, "if they build it, sales will come!"
Edsel-Dan Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 got yelled at so much about this comment I Left MCU Yahoo group,But Have to say it here too.As Nice as that 57 Ranchero Resin is, it is Incorrect for a Factory offeringThere were 2 versions, but neither had the Custon/standard Ranch wagon trimas the resin has. The Base level had NO side trim at all.The upper level offering has the Custom 300 trimMany owners of this version added the Del Rio side trim to it so there were some with Full Del Rio trim. And, it is not unlikely that owners of Base level Rancheros might haveadded the Custom/standard Ranch wagon/Courier side trimto their car.
Greg Myers Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Some do, some don't, some have been changed, customized, what's your point?
Sledsel Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 How about a 58 Ranchero? Change the trim, hood and nose.
Force Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 I would like to have a correct 57 Ranchero from Revell to replace the outdated incorrect kit they already have, I don't have anything against resin but I prefer a styrene kit if it gets available.
The Modeling Hermit Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 (edited) What I don't understand is why we can't get a 58 Ford? I really appreciate the 57s, and thank both Revell and AMT for their offerings and variety, but I can't believe that I'm alone in wanting the "forgotten" Ford. I would love it in a station wagon version. Edited July 24, 2015 by Kodiak Island Modeler

Matt T. Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 "No comment" sounds promising to me. I will send an email. Agreed on the '58s!
Dave Van Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 MORE DELAYS in the S&H Torino???? Really???? It was set for a Oct 2014 release now Oct 2015 but it is pushed back further??? With HUNDREDS of the real cars available all over the country I don't understand the problem. A real car, say an rare exotic hand built car, I can see issues in doing a kit.......a common American sedan......odd.......

I could care less about Starsky and Hutch, but I love the Torino. As far as whether Revell should bring out a '57 Ranchereo? Of course they should! Revell is run by a bunch of idiots if they don't see the money making potential in that one. And I'm pretty sure Revell is not run by idiots. (But, I've been to be wrong before!) The Modeling Hermit Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 I agree with you Scott. Skip the S&H and just bring out the Torino.

Tom Geiger Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 I never did like the Starsky and Hutch stripe. It has too many odd angles, looks like a little kid did the tape job!

The S & H tie in is not what would motivate me to buy this kit at all. Even though not my favorite year Torino I'll still buy at least one, S & H or not.
