Kit Basher Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 (edited) Both of these are Revell kits. The '70 is Testors Sublime, the '09 is Testors Bright Lime. Like many older cars, the '70 had some issues... A minor oil leak... and no brakes! Engine repairs done... and brakes added. Here's the interior. And under the hood. Chassis Here it is. Here's the '09... Anybody want to try to guess my vanity plate? Edited July 31, 2015 by Kit Basher
Kit Basher Posted July 31, 2015 Author Posted July 31, 2015 Like all my models, these are not perfect. I did not catch the crooked exhaust tip on the '70. Also, the hood on the '70 does fit (kinda), I just had it out of position when I took these photos. I won't go into detail of the other flaws.
Roadrunner Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 You had me hooked with the word Challenger. They both look nice to me.
kruleworld Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 fabulous job on both these. the 70 is a nice eye-searing green!
thatz4u Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 nice Mopars, I built the same pair a year or so ago. both have Hemis, I like your "green with envy" tag on the '09
Kit Basher Posted July 31, 2015 Author Posted July 31, 2015 Hah! Good job on the vanity tag, Al! Your prize is (not!) in the mail.
MrObsessive Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 (edited) As the owner of an '11, I LIKE those Challengers! Call me crazy (and biased), but in a lot of ways, the newer ones look a lot better than the old ones. Proportions seem to be better, especially in the front, and the roofline on the newer one is not so "heavyhanded". BTW, what your license plate states, I've been told that by others! Kit Basher Posted August 3, 2015 Author Posted August 3, 2015 Thanks Don and Cliff. Bill, I tend to agree with you. I love the old Challengers, but I like the new ones too. Clean and crisp, with attitude. Regarding the license plate, the envious do cry out!
Duke's Garage Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 (edited) What do you use for the spark plug wires? I was wanting to do that on my 65' Chevelle but couldn't find anything small enough that looked right? Love the color on the 70, great job! crazyjim Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Try ignition wires and boot material from Crazy Scale Auto Parts, Rick.
Kit Basher Posted August 3, 2015 Author Posted August 3, 2015 Thanks, Rick. I used Detail Master spark plug wire. I got it at my local hobby shop. it looks pretty good but is a little pricey. I'm thinking about getting some bulk 32 ga. wire to try.Try ignition wires and boot material from Crazy Scale Auto Parts, Rick.If you look at Jim's '70 Road Runner in Under Glass (the yellow one), you can see what his wiring looks like. Looks good to me.Thanks, Ray!
Tom Geiger Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 A nice pair for sure! Back in the day my daily driver was a 1973 Barracuda, pretty much the Challenger twin. A few years ago I went to Canada on business and the rental car company decided to give me a new Challenger. I slid behind the seat and instantly I was taken back to my days with the Barracuda. The look and feel were really captured! The car I rented was bright red with black stripes. In the three days I had it, several people complimented me on the car. So a pretty Challenger does get noticed.
