mangodart Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Hi guys, Back with an "old glory", a built from at least 10 years ago. The subject is one of my favorite as it is a 59 Dodge from Johan, interior from the Modelhaus, chassis and engine from an AMT 58 Belvedere. Be kind with this one as it is far from perfect ( especially the engine bay ) but I like it and the new pics are better than the first attempt as it was a rainy day when shooted the 1st time. It was a challenge to foil as there's a lots of chrome, the chrome on the bumpers is getting old but well, there it is.... Hope you'll like it
mangodart Posted August 27, 2015 Author Posted August 27, 2015 Some pics of the chassis and engine bay
72 Charger Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Very nice Emmanuel . Great work fitting the chassis/interior from the Belvedere it fits well. Im working on a 59 Chrysler New Yorker at the moment
DumpyDan Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Nothing wrong with that, in the right setting looks pretty good. Nice work!
StevenGuthmiller Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Very nice Emmanuel! Interesting color combo. A fun one to foil! One of the worst I've ever done! Steve
Ramfins59 Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Great job Emmanuel. This is one of my favorite cars as I used to own a '59 Coronet. Yes, it has plenty of chrome foil work, and you did beautiful work on the engine and chassis.
72 Charger Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Emmanuel Did you have any problems fitting the Belvedere interior and Chassis in ?
mangodart Posted August 27, 2015 Author Posted August 27, 2015 Emmanuel Did you have any problems fitting the Belvedere interior and Chassis in ? Thanks for the nice comments !!!! The interior is from Modelhaus Dave, not the one from the Belvedere
dimaxion Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Stunning Beauty . I see no flaws . I appreciate Factory Stock Builds . "Where's the keys ?" Thanx ..
72 Charger Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Thanks for the nice comments !!!! The interior is from Modelhaus Dave, not the one from the Belvedere Oh ok thank you for that Emmanuel
peekay Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Very nice work, Emmanuel. It's also a favourite of mine and I hope to finish my one this year.
bbowser Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Beautiful! No such thing as too many taillights or fins too tall
kruleworld Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 i like it. the wear and patina on the chrome makes it look a little rusty, which i think makes it look more like an honest survivor car. The only suggestion i have is add some clear to the front lamps in the grille. i'd suggest a layer of 5-minute epoxy to make it look like it's made of glass.i usually reference the 59 dodge when talking about ugly cars (it's not just ugly, but also looks angry)
StevenGuthmiller Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 i usually reference the 59 dodge when talking about ugly cars That all depends on taste. I always thought the '59 Dodge was a well proportioned attractive body style. A little on the gawdy side, I'll grant you, but over all, still not bad for 1959 when everything was over the top. Now the '62 Dodge? Yes, that was an ugly car! Steve
Grumpa Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Nice build Emmanuel! You've captured a look of a '59 Dodge that's been around for a little while. Faded chrome, a little chrome coming off the bumpers! It looks like it's sitting on a used car lot in the '70's.
ZTony8 Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Looks like a very nicely done build. You wouldn't have known this but Michigan license plates for 1959 were green(kinda like John Deere green) with yellow letters and numbers.
Harry P. Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 I don't think he was trying to replicate a "used" look on the chrome. If you actually read his post, he says that he built this model many years ago and the chrome is a little worse for wear... not an intentional look.
