Update pics on the 1957 Eldo. Sat the roof on loose just to see how it will look. Yup....I'm liking it.

Well, You've surprised me already!

looking into the opened box of this kit, you'll see nothing that would give you the impression that it could look this good.

Nice work so far Randy!

Thanks Steve. I'm surprised at the outcome so far. I was anticipating a fair amount of frustration but the kit is actually going together quite nicely. Still have more foiling to do.

Looks like a '50's Caddy

I love the car, but this kit seems to me (I have 2) to be more a great basis for a custom than a replica-stocker.

Can't believe someone hasn't come up with this idea already (did a lot of image searching and had to 'shop it myself):

I don't get all the criticism about this kit, your doing a fine job. Besides, it says right on the box that it's easy to build.

Your workmanship is terrific, and I really enjoy seeing how careful detail painting brings out the best in these old kits. Those wheels look incredible!

Finally got the 1957 Eldorado "Chrome Hog" all foiled. Spent another whole day applying foil. It's no wonder these beasts weighed in at a whopping 5,315 lbs. and needed a big V8 to haul them around! Just need to install windshield wipers (courtesy of my parts box) not included in the kit and a few decals, tires and I think she's finished.

Here's an idea I used. The vents from the side of a JoHan Turbine are dead ringers for the vents on the top of the fenders. Just cut, file and fit.

Sorry, I can't enlarge anymore but they have a slatted effect just like the correct vents.

This is a great idea. The thing that throws off the model I built was the poorly proportioned top and its fit. Swap in something else and you've got a real attention getter because, as Randy shows, the other simple details are good.

Looking pretty good so far.  I like it bigtime,,,,,,,,I've been wanting one of these to build for some time. And this thread has me thinking I want/need one

But to me the body looks to short compared to the roof height . And  it keeps me from pulling the trigger on one,,,,,maybe I'll get one,,,,,,, just because

Thanks everyone. Actually I find the body proportionally correct compared to my reference pics .
