crazyjim Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 The box art inspired me to try and do a build like it. I used HOK tangelo pearl, kit parts for the front and parts box for the rear. The interior was gutted and then a full length console, TV, and Nova bucket seats were added. (Hope you like it Cobraman) Gonna pack this puppy up and haul it to Tampa for the MAGS show with NSRA and enter the custom class.
BIGTRUCK Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 NIice looking Pontiac ..,really like the back , smooth
Harry P. Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 Very nice. Pretty slick, I like what you've done here. But one question... why isn't the shifter coming up out of the center console?
crazyjim Posted October 7, 2015 Author Posted October 7, 2015 Thanks Ken & Harry. Because that's where it's supposed to be Harry. Same deal on the '66 GTO I'm building now.
Harry P. Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 The shifter doesn't come out of the console? I don't think I've ever seen a car with a console and a floor shifter where the shifter doesn't come out of the console. I'll have to google that and see. If that's the case, I can't believe I missed that all these years/
cobraman Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 Hey Jim ! Of coarse I like it. Very nice build. I don't believe I ever saw a shifter like that either.
Carmak Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 I think the 60-62 Chrysler 300's with manual trans had the shifter next to the console.Nice custom!
wayne swayze Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 That's a nice lookin' car Jim! I really like what you did at the back! Your outdoor shots are great too.
blunc Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 I've seen shifters off-center in consoles (like right on the edge so much that they may look like they aren't coming out of the console) but I haven't seen a floor shifter next to a console...yet.This particular choice of this custom build detracts nothing from the rest of this fine build, great work.
jeffs396 Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 Very nice. Pretty slick, I like what you've done here. But one question... why isn't the shifter coming up out of the center console? Nicely done Jim!
espo Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 Great build and the interior is outstanding. The shifter business, the shifter on O.E.M. consoles usually had an area toward the driver from center where the shifter would come thru the floor. This was because the shift linkage is on the driver side of the transmission. With automatics they are usually cable driven and can be mounted almost anywhere. Since this is a custom interior you can mount the shifter where ever you want.
Harry P. Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 Since this is a custom interior you can mount the shifter where ever you want. Yes, that's true...
crazyjim Posted October 8, 2015 Author Posted October 8, 2015 Thank you David and thanks for the explanation. And besides all that, the kit has a small hump molded in the transmission tunnel for the shifter.
XJ6 Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 That that is Beautiful Spot on ?? what can I say Fantastic '''Wow.....you got it Together Great Talent ??
JTalmage Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Really good looking Jim. I like that color. Friend of mine at one time had a Mustang drag car painted that color and man did it stand out.
