What to do with a partial Revell 37 Ford street rod kit?

I picked up this kit specifically for the hood to use on another project. I'm debating on what to do with the rest of the kit. It doesn't seem to offer much in the way of a stock build, and seems to be a very modern street rod style and not one loaded in optional parts. I assume the body changed between 36 and 37 so the body would not be useful to combine with the 36 Convertible. 

It doesn't seem to offer much trading potential and I hate cannibalizing a kit for just one or two bits, so looking for ideas. Maybe something in resin that could go on the chassis?

I'm not a big hot rod builder but certainly willing to give that a shot if I had something to go on. My meager interest in that genre leans heavily towards the vintage end. I've got a fairly decent parts box of left overs so have a fair bit to work with.

It's 1/24 so to get close to vintage, the Revell/Monogram '40 Ford pick-up might get you close on the mechanicals. The wheels and tires from the Revell '49 Merc would look great also.

Along with the above mentioned 40, the Revell 37 Ford Pick Up might also provide some stock parts, including wheels,

Yes, the wheels on the pickup are very close to what they used on a stock '37, though you could use the '40 Ford components if you wanted to try making an early style custom.

Some years ago I built one of the reissues in a modelling club "In-speed build" (we build models while driving to a show). It ended up like this:

I was at the time intrigued by the challenge of building one stock so I bought another one, this time the 1987 Fat Fendered Monogram issue. I also got a couple of the 37/38 Pickup kit to take wheels from. Will probably have to scratchbuild or source more parts as the interior is not something that I like.

But as for your model, what about trying to build a "barnfind" or "forest wreck" type model?

Simplest idea: make a casting of the hood and resell the kit?

Otherwise you could make a dirt tracker or jalopy racer with a simple sheetmetal hood.

I'm sort of in the same boat with an ITC '40 Mercury - I've had no luck finding the missing hood so I figured I'd build it as a gasser, but it wouldn't conform to the class I want to put it in without one, so I'm going to patch one together.

Send me the the Mustang II front suspension. 

You could always built it as a stripped old junker and load it up on a flat bed, though I suppose that might leave you with only slightly fewer components you'd have no use for.

Since Ford used the same frame under several model years, you could do like me and drop the old monogram '36 body on it. It doesn't drop right on, but the track, wheelbase and shape of the frames are virtually identical. That won't make the finished product any closer to stock though..

I'm actually stealing the hood, grill and hood sides.

 

Anyway gives me a few ideas, and also supports my thought that this isn't one of those kits sought after for the bits. Seems a pretty generic kit unless you are building a '37 Ford just like the box top. 

 

I was contemplating using the '37 or '38 grill from the Ford truck, just wasn't sure how that would work out.  Googling images of '37 Fords doesn't turn up much, most of the customs being quite similar to the kit. It just doesn't seem to have anywhere near the variety of the early 30s Fords.

I forgot about this one, now that gives me some ideas, I could probably scratch a hood and grill somewhat like that which would actually make an interesting contrast the my other project.

That could work as well, I was also thinking maybe some sort of Mad Max thing.

I did this rat rod using the cabrio kit and a BBC from a Monogram '39 kit. It's not the greatest kit by todays standards, but there are fun things to do with them.
