FordRodnKustom
Another old favorite back again. I like this kit...a lot. Picked it up today with a 40% off coupon. If interested here's what's in that cool vintage art box.
59 Buick
Thanks for posting this, I was wondering what was in this kit compared to the issues I have.Might have to get one just for the hubcaps and the cool box art.Having never had the first issue, are the decals copies of the original? It's great to see all the old kits getting freshened up and rereleased, It would be great to see the 1950 Ford reissued with the Carson, Victoria roof, hubcaps and skirts soon.Hint, hint Round 2 Edited October 18, 2015 by 59 Buick additional text
Miatatom
That kit's got a lot of nice extra parts.
Ramfins59
When you build this kit, be prepared to make your own inner door panels because what is molded on the inside of the cab doors is so faint that you can barely see it, and it doesn't look good at all even if you attempt to detail it.... there is no 3D detail. Cruzcontrol
Thanks for taking the time to post the photos. Looks like a treasure trove of extra bits for the parts box.G.
Renegade
Great kit. Wish they would reissue the Diamond in the Rough kit.
Ace-Garageguy
Not yet mentioned in this thread, but the optional engine in this kit is a DeSoto Firedome hemi, introduced in '53 as one of Chrysler Corporations 3 hemi-headed engines of the 1950s. The multi-carb setup on this one makes it a natural for an unusual hot-rod build.
doggie427
Bill is the size of this DeSoto better than the Ala-Kart RedRam versions ??? Edited October 18, 2015 by doggie427
keyser
Bill is the size of this DeSoto better than the Ala-Kart RedRam versions ??? Not Bill, but yes. New Ala-Kart way too small, original Kart decent. This one is nice. Have one in a T-bucket, and one in a Stude. 8 carb log manifold pretty nice too. Port spacing decent
Ace-Garageguy
Bill is the size of this DeSoto better than the Ala-Kart RedRam versions ??? The scaling of the Red Ram in the ORIGINAL Ala Kart double kit is correct. That correctly-scaled Red Ram Dodge engine is also in the multiple separate releases of the AMT '29 Ford. It's only the "new tool" Ala Kart that has a ridiculously under-scale engine... The DeSoto Firedome in the 1953 Ford truck appearing in this thread is also correctly scaled...done during a period in America when using things like tape-measures was still among the workers' skill sets. Harry P.
It would probably help to take the parts out of the plastic bags and shoot them that way.
Chuck Most
Bill is the size of this DeSoto better than the Ala-Kart RedRam versions ???Yes, but keep in mind that's a Dodge engine, and this is a DeSoto. The three Mopar first-gen Hemi engines were all sized differently. Many parts would not interchange between the three first-gen Hemi engines.
