crazyrichard Posted March 13, 2016 Author Posted March 13, 2016 (edited) thnx joe and yes it works perfect ! the tape is really dry now and looks better ... painter some small bolts silver , painted the leaf spring brackets .. then stopped couldnt see it wll enough in te evening .. dont want to overdo it with chroe or colors Edited March 13, 2016 by crazyrichard
crazyrichard Posted March 13, 2016 Author Posted March 13, 2016 i sprayed some high gloss clear in a bowl , its very watery clear and with a brush handpainted the front and rear chassis , axle .. it turns out as nice as you wuld spraying it , it really flows .. so front and rear chassis are now gloss ... really makes a difference in tones ... also painted the strutbar in the middle chrome to break all the black a bit against the light you see the difference a bit , its hard to get on photo .. all that black , irl it looks better / you see it better these pics show it better
crazyrichard Posted March 13, 2016 Author Posted March 13, 2016 well decided to do some small details ... while the clear dryes i made the hurst shifter and i found a hurst decal in my partsbox !! it was quit big , large square decal , so i cut out the hurst letters with a small piece of red of the logo and put it on the dash .. cool detail with the hurst shifter i have 2 scrap racebike kits .. with figures and ... helmets .. now the gasser could drag now / today in modern time so i figured i can use a modern helmet.. now detail wise its off course cool to put a helmet on the passenger seat .. i will have to see what i will do with it , maybe paint it bodycolor with a black visour or leave it as is and put it in so the kenny juniour name is not visible since thats a bike racing thing made like a tag plate on the firewall made from 2 separate decals , put on te silver first and then the red lettering over that silver and yellow decl on the dif....
crazyrichard Posted March 13, 2016 Author Posted March 13, 2016 (edited) looking at the helmet i got the crazy idea to make a real visor .. how cool would that be ? ! so took thin packaging clear stuff , with a lot of effort got it cut out , drilled tiny holes and mounted it with pins .... soo small ... before after i even was able to scratch of that kenny name while leaving the design ... Edited March 13, 2016 by crazyrichard
crazyrichard Posted March 13, 2016 Author Posted March 13, 2016 well mounted the helmet on the seat , made a pin in the helmet and drilled a hole in the seat and mounted it that way fun detail the helmet reflects and on this pic i see myself standing taking the picture in the helmets reflection lol
Speedfreak Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 Man Richard, everything looks great, really nice work. I'm not sure about the Hurst decal though. The helmet is a very nice touch.
crazyrichard Posted March 13, 2016 Author Posted March 13, 2016 thnx gene .. and the hurst decal hmm i like it .. just a stuck on sticker by the owner its so much black so i figured some small stuff to break it a bit and in a way i kinda feels it gives a more realistic feel
Speedfreak Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 (edited) If you owned this car 1:1 would you put a sticker on the dash? I wouldn't but that's just me It's gonna look beautiful anyway Richard! Edited March 13, 2016 by Speedfreak
crazyrichard Posted March 13, 2016 Author Posted March 13, 2016 dont know hehehe maybe i would but .. lol I NEED SOME OPINIONS AND HELP ~~!! i need to make a driveshaft , original one is way to short now ... also i looked at some reference pics and i like the beefy thick shafts ... the only material i had suitable in about the right thickness and hollow was this alu tubing .. i grinded it on the ends on my electric grind bench .. i thought something in these lines >> rough set up only for dryfitting and settig the right length .. what do you think about the diameter ?? WILL GET MORE DETAIL AND SOME STUFF CHANGED BUT IN GENERAL ?? thnx in advance
crazyrichard Posted March 13, 2016 Author Posted March 13, 2016 for now i went on with the driveshaft ...shortened it a tad and let connections stick out more .. found one better one (red) for the gearboxside btw on the gearbox , the suare panel i want to make a cover over that from real alu
Dogfish_7 Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 Just my opinion, but the scale on the shaft looks like it may be one size too large.
crazyrichard Posted March 14, 2016 Author Posted March 14, 2016 yes i know i dont know what i was thinking bruce ... man ... but good news i found a nice thinner alu tube and made this when i got home from work
JTalmage Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 That driveshaft looks much better!Alternatively you could use an old radio antenna...
crazyrichard Posted March 14, 2016 Author Posted March 14, 2016 thnx jesse .. yes that could work as well i went on and man it turned out way more realistic then i thought .. i painted the connections (we call them kruiskoppelingen) black , i masked the aluminium but left 1 mm of the alu bare so it became one whole piece with a decal loose in front of the chassis .. i srayed the whole shaft in high gloss clear its milky on this pic , just sprayed it .. this will turn clear ....this clear always does this with a lot of patience drilled open the brackets again for the fuelline , it fits exact but after paint the holes became smaller , then painstakingly lead the steel ribbed wire through , trying not to scratch the paint ... trrue the fuelpump to the gasstank up and in the powerboostvalve tomorrow i will try to tackle the brakelines to the rear ...
lghtngyello03 Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 Looking awesome man! What did you use for the cloth interior? I need to steal the idea for an under the hood mat for my Supra build.
crazyrichard Posted March 14, 2016 Author Posted March 14, 2016 thnx scot , its done with medical tape , the white almost see through cloth like tape , usually used for taping bandage ..
bobthehobbyguy Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 Very nice. The detal on the chassis and interior is killer.
wayne swayze Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 Great looking chassis Richard! Glad you found a slightly smaller diameter driveshaft.
Dann Tier Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 Great looking chassis Richard! Glad you found a slightly smaller diameter driveshaft. Agreed!! -its looking fantastic! -and again, Great imagination and use of unordinary supplies!!
Speedfreak Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 Looks good Richard, great job on the driveshaft. This car will shine! Are you still going with the green metallic for the body?
crazyrichard Posted March 15, 2016 Author Posted March 15, 2016 thnx guys !! .. well gene i want to go green metallic but i will have a look when i go to the store .. will go not coming weekend but the weekend next to that .. so i have time to mes with the details before i have some paint i could order online but i want to go to the modelstore and just absorb the atmosphere and shelfs full of kits , and i need some brass and alu tubing .. so ... tbh this will be the first time i will buy brass and alu all my stuff comes from here and there , out of junk and all some daylight pictures hard to get focussed its a ribbed line on one spot you can see it just .. but irl it looks way better all together . not mouted yet though , i want to make a alu cap for the bottom of the trans .. i dont like the silver painted look
crazyrichard Posted March 16, 2016 Author Posted March 16, 2016 thnx guys ! added the brakeline , not real happy with it but i cant pull it out .. maybe i will make some bushes so it looks like multiple sections .. i dryfitted the body on the chassis / interiour .. this kit is notorious for the way the body fits over the chassis , body needs to be spread ...its very narrow on the bottom .. before i could slide in the whole chassis and interiour from the front .. but after mounting the seats and rollcage i could not slide it in anymore .. so exiting how itt would fit , actually went in very simple , i dont have the doorpanels on yet but i think that wont give a issue (knock on wood) i'm very happy with the looks and stance , real gasser style but not to high .. for a charger to high would look less ....body needs lots of work still but the end is in sight brakelines to the master cilinder .. bit simple and bend in shape , engine will take away part of the vieuw .. in the end its better then not rnning any lines .. in the future i want to make more realistic brakelines
