thnx gene , tried it but it looked weird , something thick looks horrible and even worse then thin rods ..

but ... i was braining about headers .. i sanded more shape in the chassis , limited space .. how to make headers ..

tried several styrene rods .. hmmmm , did a test with the brass wire i used for the window mildings .. way way to thin but bending that in shapes  worked great .

then i saw my roll of solder tin wire ... and tried that .. hmmm its very flimsy but the pro is its so easely bendable ... i bended a header , just simple as a test .. not what i want .. and tried to superglue the tin wires ... first sanded the wire , then bend and then superglued ..

and whow it stuck and good ... so after it was hard and dry i tried to bend the 4 wires together and it was quite stirdy .. ot like it will bend over time or..

you can even finetune the bends after glueing all the rods together ...

the plan is to make nice flowing and good looking shapes and use aly tubing and make a collector out of that .. if i stretch it a bit the 4 pipes fit and i might even be able to bend then around the pipes to get the indentations

so here is the test header , dont look at the shape i just made something simple

a piece of the alu tubing next to it (they are not in the alu pipe)

so i'm quite happy with the result ..i want to make some headers this weekend when i have all the time to tinker with them and in daylight ..

now when the 4 rods are together i like the thickness .. again not a massive amount of room and maybe on a model going for thick pipes it might look out of scale ??

i do want to try nd make some sleeves to make then thicker where they are separate pipes and where they sit on the engine ... the plate they sit on i want to make from alu sheet

so will be continued

first 2 dryfit pics , just to show the stance .. all loose and not aligned

started on the second version of the solder wire headers ....

now i will start version 3 because i screwed it up after the pics .. i made a plate from aluminium , glued in the rods ... wanted to glue that on the engine when the whole header was painted later on .. i already saw the alu did not glue that strong .. it holds but thats it no strenght to hold the whole header ..and i cut the rods short  so the back of the plate was flush against the engine head

now the new plan is to make a new one ... drill holes in the engine block so the rods go in and glue into the engine and the plate sits flush against the engine heads , much more stirdy tht way and easyer when dryfitting

so i will make a 3th version tomorrow ..

here is version 2 ... bend new pipes , made a collector (already know i can make it even better) and the plate

started the final version(s) of the headers today .

now made 2 at a time and mirrored every step to the other side to make them the same ...

what i have at the moment , where it will go into the heads needs bending and at the bottom will need some finetuning on the bend later , then make collectors ..

also did some work on the front clip / flip front closed the gap between grille and hood and sanded the corners a bit more round .. i just liked that .. and since the idea is that its a poly molded light weight front , its not that bad tht the shape is a ta different from original

thnx steve !!!

i'm a bit further on the headers , glued them in / on the engine and started finetuning the position , it was hard to get them the same i got them positioned  90% the same way ...

then i reshaped the rear of the wheel wells and made it slope , this way i have more room and you see more of the headers .. in the end it made the whole cxar look better visually , i didnt expect that :)

cbc189821169fe9aa6752ef6d18193dd.jpg

then made the rough base collectors , need more work .. the need to point a tad more backwards instead of towards the road .. i might considder making a small pipe from the collector in a bend just onder the bottom (?)

now i need to finetune them and repair some minour marks i made with pliars when bending them while on the engine ...

and think about what color / paint ... either white from ceramic coating or chrome .. i think chrome because thats easy to paint .. the headers are fixed to the engine .. cant mask where they go in the block

thnx guys !!

and yes gene i cant waight to see some paint or even a coat of primer on it , that will do a lot .. but i just cant spray premature .. i need to have everything done and set and dialed in .. knowing how i'm going to put it together when all is painted .. and i need to go shopping for a nice metallic .. no rush on this one ..

well enough talk i painted the headers chrome and then painted all the silver on the engine chrome .. looks better and redid the valve covers .. they when dull after all the toutching and dryfitting .. repainted the orange .. also had some scuff marks

put the spark plug wires on its place ...wanted to paint them black or red .. kept them yellow saw some high performance yellow leads on engines and i just liked the yellow really pops ...

gave the headers a wash with black for depth (in the seems)

pic with the master brake cilinder loose on the firewall , its just a revell cilinder .. painted it base chrome , pre drilled holes for brakelines .. will get more detail

bonuspic in the garage .. cant really shoot pics of  the car in there yet the white catches so much light on pics .. looks horrible

so i need to make brakelines , fuelline , throttle cable , steering box and shaft ... and more small details..

started part of the fuell system ...

did some research looking at pictures .. what to do ..

also taking in consideration the scale , room i have .. wanted to make something tht looks convinsing kind of makes sense but was easy to make , first time i go in so much detail on a engine ..

made a fuell pressure regulator , with two lines that will go to the carb and room for a feed in the bottom , i will make some sort of small fuell body on the bottom and add a gauge ... this is the first rough set up / what i made >>

ooh and i will put it on the firewall loads of room there , best would be close to the carb next to it .. but het lets be hounest it wont really fire ....lol hhahaha

thnx guys !!!!

i just came home from work and made a steel pin in the back of the powerboostvalve .. this fits in a hole in the firewalls ...

so the position is set .. now the hoses are inbetween flexibel en ridged so there is a tiny bit of tention when the sit in the carb ..

the steel pin makes sure both ends are strong and when everything is painted i can glue the powerboostvale on the firewall with the steel pin , that way i get and a strong connection and i avoid glue mark risk ..

also shot 2 pics outside , most pics are shot in the evening with artificial light and it doesnt show the engine how it looks irl by eye colors show much better on the outside pics
