martinfan5 Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Here we have a pair of the new NASCAR kits, pretty much built from the box , using the craptistic chassis, I used wheels/tires/wheelbacks from Revell's previous NASCAR kits, ride height was lowered on both, tire decals are from Mikes Decals and Powerslide decals, chassis were painted using SEM/Promax Chassis Gray. I added the clear shark fins, bumper camera pod, painted the spoilers the correct colors( ok, close anyways). The Miller Ford was done for the 2016 year, decals again are from Powerslide.
mike 51 Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 they both look pretty nice....what was 'wrong' with the kit wheels/tires?
martinfan5 Posted January 6, 2016 Author Posted January 6, 2016 they both look pretty nice....what was 'wrong' with the kit wheels/tires?For what the kit is, nothing is wrong with them, I chose to use the previous tires/wheels as the kits wheels are molded in black and I just wanted to make it easier painting the red/white wheels over white plastic. The older tires have molded on tire detailing as well that new kit tires do not. If the wheels were black on real ones, I would of just gone ahead and used the kit tires/wheels.
mike 51 Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 thanks..i was thinking of building a primered test car version but I've got no left over Nascar parts if any of the parts needed replacing.
Silver Foxx Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Nice to see a couple of these built , you have done nice work on them , they look great .
bbowser Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Those look great Jonathan! I think Revell made the right call doing them as "snappers", its all about the body/decals for these cars.
MarkJ Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Both look fantastic. Cant wait till hobby lobby starts selling them.
Len Carsner Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 Did you paint the #2 car, and if so what color/paint did you use? I've heard both pearl white and straight white as being correct. BTW - nice builds!

roadhawg Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Both of these look good. I have a question. I'm not a Nascar builder, but I did acquire some of these. The fuel filler , to me, looks way too big...it actually swallows the decal that's supposed to around it there. Your #2 car looks right. Did you rework that area, or am I doing something wrong?

CRANMAN1 Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Nice builds hope to get started on mine soon.
