robiwon Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 (edited) Just got this in the mail, The Lotus sub car from the James Bond movie "The Spy who Loved Me". Nice curbside kit. Crisp detail in the body. Chrome reflectors for all clear lenses is a nice touch. The way the kit is engineered, I'm sure we will see a street version as well. Fujimi has a winner on their hands with this long sought after movie car. Edited January 8, 2016 by robiwon
afx Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Looks like a nice kit. I sure hope they issue a road car.
Mike Chernecki Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Looks like a nice kit. I sure hope they issue a road car.Maybe, look at the trees. Some are labeled Submarine, the others are labeled Lotus/8
disabled modeler Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Id be happy to see some 007 movie cars on the shelves...I got a hold of an old lunch box but its not in too great of shape...I guess that is a start anyway.
GeeBee Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 I sure hope they issue a road car. What he said ....
unclescott58 Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 I'm surprised it took somebody this long to do this subject. It's about time! I would think that any and every James Bond car would sell like hot cakes. Though, I want my Lotus in the street version. The car turning into a submarine was a little too much for me. Even without turning into a sub, it was a cool Bond car.
62rebel Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 I noticed Hot Wheels released a bunch of Bond themed cars around Christmas, I got my grandson several and they were a huge hit with him... one was the Lotus, but NOT in submarine mode. He's going to be a big classic car fan if I have anything to do about it... I suppose licensing fees are the big deal-breaker with James Bond stuff
niteowl7710 Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Fujimi announced today that they're issuing a 1977 Esprit S1 next month. So that will be this submarine with a car chassis stuck underneath it.
gtx6970 Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 (edited) Being a huge Bond film fan, I will definitely get a sub car for the stash .Long live Sean Connery, ( and yes I know Roger Moore was in this film ) Edited January 14, 2016 by gtx6970
Junkman Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 I just noticed that Fujimi also issued a Lotus Europa kit recently.
niteowl7710 Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 I just noticed that Fujimi also issued a Lotus Europa kit recently.Tamiya kit is miles beyond. Fujimi one is at best a cheap curbside with weak detail throughout. It was created primarily to fit in the last series of cars related to the Circuit Wolf animated series, then reissued as a conventional road car. I suppose the only interesting bit is the Circuit Wolf car makes a JDM Spec Europa.

Rob Hall Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Is it full detail or curbside?I'd assume it's curbside, judging by the price point...
